At Rawlinson, my favorite part was the teachers. Most of the teachers knew what they were teaching and wanted to teach and wanted you to learn. The departments communicated pretty well, but there was some disparity depending on teacher (as is true in many schools). The school had the facilities (library, football field, basketball hoops, tennis courts, soccer goals) of a normal middle school. On regard of academics and college readiness, we are a bit higher than average in the school district and well above the state average.
It's an average middle school, the kids are mostly mean, but they're learning. Most of the teachers aren't too bad, I would like to see kids have less control over them and rather focus on their safety than what they're wearing. If I ever got the chance to go back I wouldn't, not even to visit old teachers. But it was a school.
I received a very good education and social experience at Rawlinson, graduating from 8th grade in 2014. Going into high school at a different district than NISD, I saw that I had been much better prepared by Rawlinson than whatever middle school my high school peers went to. The pre-AP classes at Rawlinson did indeed set me up properly for AP classes in high school, and the band program there was phenomenal compared to the middle schools that feed into my high school. I largely attribute my successes to my time at Rawlinson.
