extra curricular activities/programs are mostly run by local community groups, at least at the elementary school level. Our local education Foundation has really stopped serving all but a few select children (despite taking in huge donations all year!) They appear to focus on remediation and teacher grants to take this burden off of the school district.

Some teachers are great while others are dead weight. They struggle with low morale because administration is not supportive and functions with no integrity.
An entire wing has no hot running water in classrooms or bathrooms (beyond shameful). It took a parent revolt this year to get doors put onto bathroom stalls (also beyond shameful). They come up with the $ to repave the parking lot but can't manage to heat the building.
