Ransom, who founded Ransom Everglades in 1903, the school produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The mission of Ransom Everglades School is to provide an educational environment in which the pursuit of honor, academic excellence, and intellectual growth is complemented by concern for the physical, cultural, and character development of each student. Attending an academically rigorous school has been quite challenging, to say the least. The constant pressure to excel in all subjects while maintaining a high GPA has caused many students, including myself, to experience burnout. However, despite the struggles, I must admit that this school provides a well-rounded education that prepares us for the future. From advanced mathematics and science courses to engaging humanities classes, the curriculum is robust and comprehensive. In addition, the school offers numerous extracurricular activities, such as sports teams, music ensembles, and clubs, allowing students to pursue their interests outside of academics. Overall, while the workload can be overwhelming at times, I am grateful for the knowledge and skills that I have gained from this academically rigorous school.
I can't say enough about how wonderful the experience at Ransom Everglades School has been for my family. In short, we believe it's a truly exceptional opportunity and experience to attend this school. The faculty have all been so incredibly nurturing in both the high school and middle school. There is a very real sense that teachers here are simply different than in many other schools. Many teachers have been at the school for 20+ years and the newer teachers are absolutely exceptional and have a special way of bonding with and getting to know their students. The facilities and location are truly spectacular - absolutely top notch. The school community has been incredibly welcoming for both the parents and the students: Great special events throughout the year, world class guest speakers, a diverse and welcoming community, absolutely world class faculty and great communication overall. I recommend digging into the history and culture of the school as it holds to true to their values.
Ransom Everglades changed my life thirty years ago. RE teaches you “how” to think, how to write, and how to dig deeper. I was fortunate to attend an Ivy League school after RE, and I felt well prepared for my studies. In addition to the outstanding academics, I had tremendous opportunities in the arts, sports, volunteer, and extracurricular arenas.
We have chosen to send our child to Ransom. There are 30 alumni families in her grade alone which speaks to the success and value of a Ransom education. While there have been changes since my time at RE, I see the same values, helping to create thinkers and leaders who want to give back to their world. The teachers are the best asset and strength of RE. They care about their students and push the students to achieve their very best by thinking and analyzing. I look forward to seeing future generations benefit from a Ransom Everglades’ education and see how they continue to grow in Paul Ransom’s vision.
