    Garden City High School

    • Garden City, NY
    • 103 reviews
High School Senior:My school has been one of the most amazing outlets for me to really find myself, and grow as a human being. The undivided attention from faculty and staff has had a major affect on me succeeding throughout my four years in my high school. The healthiness in the air of Garden City High School has showed me what I could possibly become or achieve in my near future. I have had my up's and down's as a worried young freshman, but from the boost I received from my peers converted me into a strong individual. From walking through the front doors and being greeted by a sweet man Tom at the front desk to my Italian teacher greeting me with her love and care, my school is my home away from home. My district happens to be in a wealthy town, so our school does everything they can from donating prom dresses to girls in need to holding bake sales almost every week. All of the clubs and organizations are motivated to help the needy and less fortunate, not just to raise the money but with love for society around us.

    George W. Hewlett High School

    • Hewlett, NY

Senior:I felt Hewlett High School was a well rounded experience. The great thing I love, is the ability to have multitudes of opportunity. My guidance counselor was an amazing help all four years of high school and is always there for support. While many other schools don't have this, these guidance counselors really do guide you to graduating in four years and taking classes that are on your level. I had so many opportunities to take AP and college courses in order to push my academics to the limit. The teachers accommodate to you an abundant amount. However, some other teachers don't baby you as much and that really got me ready for college because I got used to keeping my own calendar and following a syllabus. It was a pretty amazing experience and I made some lifelong memories and friends that will not be forgotten!

Senior:The education I recieved at MHS was exceptional. I was able to take 4 different classes through universities, and purchase college credits at an unbelievable price! These classes helped me prep for college, and I graduated with over 25 college credits already! The school's well known mock trial program is exceptional, and very sucessful. I have had the opportunity to attend two weekend-long law seminars at Harvard University with the MHS Mock Trial team.

Senior:Penfield High School has given me a basis of knowledge that will help me with my higher education and moving forward in life. The teachers are helpful and strive to get to know each student. The atmosphere is friendly and caring, and each class is very close-knit. There are opportunities for numerous honors programs and high level classes that allow students to challenge themselves and perform their best. I believe that I could not have gotten a better education anywhere else in the area.

High School Senior:The school has a wide range of clubs and classes, some that i didn't even know about until senior year! This school offers many great educational and recreational opportunities for students to emerge in. I love being part of my clubs and love the classes I've taken. Also the school has encouraged me, and every other student, to improve myself academically and personally and grow into an intellectually successful person.

Parent:Academics are very strong. They push the students to work at their very best. There is extra help before and after school if needed. There are homework sessions after school free of charge. There are teachers willing to tutor for free three days a week. You can be very creative here and work at your highest potential. There is all kinds of support classes if needed. The teachers stay on top of each student. And send emails to the parents updating them.

    Commack High School

    • Commack, NY
    • 651 reviews
Senior:My overall experience here has been excellent. I have learned so much- more than I ever thought I would. I have been able to grow here as an individual. The teachers are well versed in their respective fields (with an exception to some) and they always are more than willing to go the extra mile. Classroom content is easily accessible online, which makes it a million times easier when you miss a class. There are many ways in which one can rise to success here. In short, it's an absolutely wonderful school where there are many opportunities. However, there is one thing that should be changed. Many of the students are bullied every day or face some kind of harsh treatment from both their peers and students. Teachers should be well trained in the repercussions of bullying, as well as to be the first line of defense. Although it's an "anti-bullying" school, rules regarding bullying should be more strictly enforced.

    Suffern Senior High School

    • Suffern, NY
    • 216 reviews
Alum:I attended suffern high school for 4 years. Although it is the only high school I know, I would definitely not call it the best. My freshman and sophomore years were much more care free compared to my junior and senior year. The teachers were more relaxed, as well as friendly. The faculty, principles, and other staff changed once my junior year had started. With the introduction of a new principle. Suffern high had went from a lovable school where everyone got along with everyone..to a place of anger, and complete dissatisfaction of student to staff.

High School Senior:I love the atmosphere of my school. I would choose to go here again if I could because of the friendly environment and so many opportunities to choose from. At the football, basketball, and hockey games sitting in the student section is such an amazing feeling. Being able to cheer on your team with your other classmates really energizes the players and makes them perform even better! My school is unique because there are so many different clubs, sports teams, and organizations to join in that I never knew existed because other schools around us do not have the ability to obtain these.

    Pelham Memorial High School

    • Pelham, NY
    • 119 reviews
High School Senior:The educational system at Pelham Memorial High School is excellent in my opinion. Most of the teachers are really knowledgeable, genuine and helpful. The work load can be attainable based on the classes you are enrolled in, however the cirrculum in this school requires more work ethic based on how the teachers determine the difficulty of the tests, quizzes and based on how much work load they want their students to handle. Another factor that contributes to the school curriculum at Pelham Memorial High School is how competitive it can be and how much involvement the parents within the community have in the school.

    Eastridge Senior High School

    • Rochester, NY
    • 261 reviews
Senior:Overall, Eastridge is a pretty good school. Most of the teachers are very good at what they do and are good at explaining things if you don't understand them. Also, the sports and extracurricular activities programs are very well organized and most are very successful. The only problems I have with Eastridge is that there are many students that slack off and don't care who make the rest look bad.

    Oyster Bay High School

    • Oyster Bay, NY
    • 57 reviews
Sophomore:Oyster Bay High School is a great school for an abundant amount of reasons. Firstly, the people. The people who attend OBHS all have different life styles, personalities, hobbies, jobs, it makes OBHS a diverse place to attend. The staff is amazing! From the janitors, to teachers, to social workers and lunch aids, OBHS provides many different adult figures to connect with and have a conversation about anything with! It is so important to have that sort of connection in a High School like ours. Another reason why our school is great, and my favorite reason, are the sports. Both the girl and boys Varsity and Junior Varsity teams excell in the sport(s) they choose to do. Each coach has his or her special way to make us better both on, and off the field or court. The coaches at OBHS show us how important it is to be humble, healthy, and aware at all times.

    Marlboro Central High School

    • Marlboro, NY
    • 93 reviews
Niche User:My experience at Marlboro was pretty well rounded. I was in the National Honor Society, took many AP and College classes, did sports year-round, and volunteered at local events. My school offers a good amount of AP and College level courses for those who want to push themselves harder. There are many sports offered and we have a strong athletic record and a lot of community support and encouragement. One of y favorite experiences was going to States for Track my senior year. I was an alternate for the boys 4x200 meter race and it was amazing to experience it as a spectator. What makes our school unique is the attention that the teachers give to each and every student. Almost all of the teachers are always available and ready to help any student that needs help. Since our school is small, most of the athletic coaches are also teachers here. This means we get even more help and guidance throughout our school day and our teachers can see us from more than just an academic viewpoint. I would say that I would choose this school again If I could do it over again because it is a well rounded strong school.

    Monroe-Woodbury High School

    • Central Valley, NY
    • 335 reviews
Niche User:There are no words to describe my experience in this high school. From the beginning, it was God sent to me and to my family. They taught me how to play a violin from scratch, read Latin, win the stock market game, understand Italian, act and sing, sew liturgical vestments, establish a rapport, and speak in front of an audience. There is always a place for every personality here with the variety of clubs and extracurricular activities MW has to offer. My fondest memories were in theater and singing. I realized that I was involved in so many clubs, not so much for the club itself, but for the memories that would come with it. Now that I am in the medical field in college, I did not know time and money would be such a problem in my passion for music and the performing arts. What I would give to have pushy conductors and grouchy directors all over again! All for the sake of music. My time has been well spent these past four years in this wonderful Monroe Woodbury High School.

    Westhill High School

    • Syracuse, NY
    • 102 reviews
High School Senior:This school is small and mostly quiet, kept away from the normal drama of having large, impersonal public schools. The teacher-to-student ratio is phenomenal, meaning every student is able to get extra one-on-one time with their teachers if they feel they need further assistance with any class material.

Niche User:The best school in Suffolk county. All the teachers and nice; they will provide help anytime just to keep you up and guide you to the right path. Spent my best 4 years ever, had a lot of good memories. Professional teachers in all classes. The teachers are very good and the academic programs are demanding. Outstanding music, art, and business programs. The principal is very caring and has lots of zeal. The school offers tons of extra-curricular activities, clubs, and sports teams. There is something for everyone. The after-school programs are what the students enjoy most about their high school experience. Best high school ever.

    • 187 reviews
Alum:Attending Farmingdale High School was something that I was fortunate enough to experience. My four years there were the best years I could possibly ask for. Between the principal at the time, Mr. Zakien, being the best possible principal in the history of the school, and the teachers of that school being nothing but supportive and helpful, I consider it an honor to have attended here. They really and truly cared about each and every student on an academic and personal level.

High School Senior:My favorite experience at this school would be the sporting events. Sports in Tully are highly recommended throughout the journey. The administration prides themselves that most of the sporting clubs include students on high honor roll throughout the years. The games are widely known to be a "hangout" of get together with friends. Everyone goes to them. Students show their support for their friends, teachers come to celebrate, and parents come to cheer on the team. Last year, our girls' cross country team won States for the second year in a row. When finally arriving at the school, almost around midnight, A large group of students, parents, and teachers, with banners, flowers, and noise makers were all waiting in the dark as our team got escorted by the town's firetrucks. The feeling we all had was amazing. It was such a perfect ending to a perfect day thanks to this school and community.

Half Hollow Hills High School West

    • Dix Hills, NY
    • 251 reviews
Alum:As a first year college student looking back at my experience at High School West, I would say it was overall a great high school. There are certain aspects of this high school that I am especially impressed with as I now realize that not everyone has had the same type of high school experience. It really does have a solid reputation, academically and athletically, and they do have a number of really amazing teachers. Not only is this school extremely diverse, but students of different backgrounds and races are truly intergrated (mostly). The attitude of most staff and administration seemed to be more 'out to get you' than there to help, which seems to do more harm than good. Over my four years the school was becoming increasingly strict, to an unnecessary extreme. This was to the point where it felt as though education was not as much of a priority as enforcing policy was.

    West Islip Senior High School

Senior:I graduated from WIHS recently, and feel that the education from this school has helped me a great deal in college. Unless you are in AP and honors classes, I feel that WIHS really is not all that great. Since I happened to only be in honors and AP courses I came across some of the best and most influential teachers that have changed my life forever. These teachers were not only my academic instructors, but life mentors as well. Besides that academic portion of WIHS, the athletics are great except for the fact that it becomes extremely political. The student population of WIHS turns into a typical high school scene where cliques govern the entire school. For a social environment I would say that WIHS is not the greatest hs experience.

High School Junior:Everyone is super great, once in a while you see fights and arguments, but overall it is terrific. I enjoy walking around in my school, but I believe it is too strict for a public school. And I think the lunches isn't that great, the bathrooms are HORRIBLE! The lunches: There aren't many options around here. The after school passes, I think those are unnecsary, because those little color paper get written down everyday and 10 minutes later it gets thrown away. Just so the teachers and school administrators can see you stayed after with one of these two? Either don't have passes or reuse the passes! Other than that I think it is good.

Niche User:Everything makes this school unique which includes the school spirit when it comes to homecoming, making it a great place for everyone to be with. During sport games many people come to cheer the athletes, being one myself many people do care about us and support us when it comes to these types of events. I would definitely come back to enjoy the moment I had with the boys soccer team leading them to the quarterfinal and my friends that came to support us on our success throughout the season.
