    Stuyvesant High School

    • New York, NY
    • 777 reviews
Alum:Yes, Stuyvesant definitely does have a reputation of being competitive and while ther are those students who are cut-throat, throughout my time there, I have also met many kind-hearted and genuine students who are not only ambitious, driven, and hard-working, but are also extremely interested in helping out their fellow classmates. Studnets are not only passionate about academics but about a variety of sports, and other activities as well which can be showcased by our annual SING! performance. Becuase of the school's location, Stuyvesant students become independent and learn more than just academics by attending the school.

Alum:A very tight knit high school with high national standing, my high school is top ranked in academics, studies and college preparedness. We have a nationally recognized Robotics program. The school's small size is perfect and allows all student to focus and help each other. The school cafeteria conversations range from high school games to national science and possible solutions to space and science mysteries and issues. I love my high school and would recommend everyone to try to make it in!

    • 97 reviews
Niche User:Everything makes this school unique which includes the school spirit when it comes to homecoming, making it a great place for everyone to be with. During sport games many people come to cheer the athletes, being one myself many people do care about us and support us when it comes to these types of events. I would definitely come back to enjoy the moment I had with the boys soccer team leading them to the quarterfinal and my friends that came to support us on our success throughout the season.

    Townsend Harris High School

    • Flushing, NY
    • 469 reviews
Senior:I love Townsend Harris for its vigorous Honors and AP programs that help me prepare for college courses. Extracurriculars such as SING! and the Festival of Nations create a lively and busy atmosphere. Lately, the Interim Acting Principal Rosemarie Jahoda has been sub-par with her duties and needs to be replaced with a better qualified principal. Hopefully, the DOE will fix this!

    Bronx High School of Science

    • Bronx, NY
    • 689 reviews
Junior:I absolutely love my school! The workload is demanding and engaging, and the extracurriculars are beyond compare. It's a challenge but the community and teachers help me at every turn! Everyone here has something about which they're passionate about, and you have so many opportunities to find your own passion. We are the only high school in NYC with our own campus, and it's really an added bonus. We have a very open and accepting community, and there are so many resources available to me. I've learned so much about time management and acquired skills that I will use in college and beyond.

    Jericho Senior High School

    • Jericho, NY
    • 98 reviews
Junior:The experience at Jericho is mostly shaped by who you are and what social group you choose to belong to. For the academically-inclined (mostly Asian), taking all the AP's possible, getting 4.0 GPA's, and winning science research awards are the main goals. For everybody else, keeping up with these kids while maintaining a social life is the objective. There is a lot of fear of peer competition and college affirmative action, so the former group is a formidable academic powerhouse that only gets stronger every year, which causes a lot of stress among students but improves Jericho's state and national rankings.

    Rye High School

    • Rye, NY
    • 58 reviews
Senior:Rye High School has amazing opportunities and resources for students to use. There are dedicated, hard-working teachers who help their students succeed in every way possible. One of the main things I would hope to see change is for the school to become more diverse. It is filled with great people, but it's always nice to see new faces.

    Byram Hills High School

    • Armonk, NY
    • 101 reviews
Niche User:I personally have had the honor to participate in a lot of the schools programs. I've have been a part of the Varsity Dance Team for four years and Captain for two, raising $25,000 over the past four years through our dance expositions for multiple charities. I have been involved in the Soccer and Lacrosse program at the high school. The String Orchestra and many other clubs such as SWAC (student Wellness advisory committee) and Red Ribbon (HIV/AIDS). I have also been part of the Senior mentor program which is very unique and different in our school than other school's mentor programs. As 1 out of 18 seniors chosen in the entire grade me and my partner taught a class of 24 freshmen 1st period teaching them how to adjust to high school and important life lessons and tips they would need in order to be the best and do the best they could in the next four years in high school.

    Syosset Senior High School

    • Syosset, NY
    • 283 reviews
Senior:Syosset High School is an incredible place to learn. The teachers are friendly, caring, and determined to help their students be the best they possibly can. Almost every teacher I have had is extremely approachable and easy to communicate with. The education is unmatched, but what goes unknown is our great principal. Dr. Durante is one of if not the best principal's in the nation. He cleaned up Syosset High School beautifully and welcomes students every morning at the front door of the school. He cares for every one of his students, and shows it with great enthusiasm every morning!

    Edgemont Junior/Senior High School

    • Scarsdale, NY
    • 72 reviews
Senior:Edgemont is a school with some brilliant teachers. Some teachers are so-so in terms of approach and moral upliftment of students. But anyone would be lucky to join here. The debate team is brilliant and starting to build cohesiveness. In addition, the science research course is amazing as well. Anyone who works hard will definitely get rewarded with their efforts. A downside is how the community is snobby. Most Asians have a tendency to be discriminated amongst themselves. Also, in terms of Advanced Placement courses, please do not over pile your work load with them. They increase unnecessary stress and should be strategized over your years of high school. Do your best to excell and to remove yourself from peer pressure.

    Wheatley School

    • Old Westbury, NY
    • 85 reviews
Freshman:I love the Wheatley High School, and all of the opportunities they provide. They put academics first. and outside activities are for if you do really good with academics. Most of the teachers really try their best to see you succeed in not only academics but also in your personal life. They provide many different clubs and activities. They also prepare you for college, and explain fully the coarses and options that you are able to take.

    Horace Greeley High School

    • Chappaqua, NY
    • 85 reviews
High School Senior:This school academically has many resources, many great oppertunites, and different classes which most schools do not have. I am greatful to have had these expirnaces. But the school is overly competitive starting freshman year, the parents are obnoxious and breed the competitiveness, and they are materialistic. They buy tutors, and pay thousands for their kids to be smart because they naturally aren't. this school pays no attention to anything besides academics, which is why our sports and spirit is terrible. As a class, we cannot raise money for prom tickets Because no one will go to any events. Our tickets will be about $200-300 each (which isn't a big deal for most people in Chappaqua).

    Fox Lane High School

    • Bedford, NY
    • 149 reviews
Alum:Overall, I had a really great experience during my time at Fox Lane High School. I had the opportunity to receive an excellent education that provided me with college readiness and social skills to enter the real world. I think that being able to take AP courses really helped me have a better understanding of what type of work to expect in college, and the amount of preparation you should be putting into projects and exams. Fox Lane is a very diverse and supportive community, and through extracurricular activities and community service, I am grateful for having those opportunities to develop leadership skills and relationships with others in a group project setting. The teachers really do care about the success of their students, and are always there and willing to help you when you need it and encourage you to be your best.

Senior:Since the beginning on Freshmen year I have just felt so welcome and at home in this school. It is a great environment to come to everyday to learn. The teachers here are dedicated to their jobs and they always help the students to become successful at earning great grades. The school lunch is great with all the different options between the salad bar, the sandwich bar, the hot lunchs, and also all the different snacks that they offer. The technology is also well up to date with the best Mac desktops in all of the Mac labs and in the library, which students get to use whenever they choose to, and also all of the Mac laptops that they have in computer carts for entire classes to use in the classroom. This school is an all around amazing school and I wouldnt have wanted to experience high school anywhere else!

Senior:This school has amazing diversity in its student body. The teachers are very kind and understanding. Though sometimes the work load can get pretty hard to handle, the faculty is always there to help with homework questions or after school for tutoring. Overall, the school is academically rigorous, competitive, and has a very sociable environment. The school is small so it is not hard to get to know everyone in your grade. The teams at the school are also another part that makes this school so great, it feels like a second family.

    George W. Hewlett High School

    • Hewlett, NY
    • 147 reviews
Senior:I felt Hewlett High School was a well rounded experience. The great thing I love, is the ability to have multitudes of opportunity. My guidance counselor was an amazing help all four years of high school and is always there for support. While many other schools don't have this, these guidance counselors really do guide you to graduating in four years and taking classes that are on your level. I had so many opportunities to take AP and college courses in order to push my academics to the limit. The teachers accommodate to you an abundant amount. However, some other teachers don't baby you as much and that really got me ready for college because I got used to keeping my own calendar and following a syllabus. It was a pretty amazing experience and I made some lifelong memories and friends that will not be forgotten!

    Great Neck North High School

    • Great Neck, NY
    • 70 reviews
Alum:Great Neck North High has some solid teachers, as well as lots of clubs and events you can participate in. The administration is ok, but the principal, who was once great and known for his creation of an alternate community school for self-motivated learners is too old and should retire. If you are a creative type and interested in theater or music or art it's a great school. The science dept is adequate and the math dept is weak. Also a good place for special education.

    Brighton High School

    • Rochester, NY
    • 218 reviews
Niche User:As an alumnus and freshman at an elite college, I can sincerely say that none of my peers in college received a better education than I did at Brighton. Students and teachers work very hard to go much farther than simply preparing for tests--genuine students learning and thinking is what is important. There are a huge number of extracurricular activities that are very popular (model UN, math team, a cappella). Brighton has an especially strong performing arts programs, with three large plays a year and superb music education. While at times being a student at Brighton can be stressful and competitive, students are always encouraging to each other. If you have the chance to go to Brighton, seize that opportunity!

    Hastings High School

    • Hastings On Hudson, NY
    • 87 reviews
Senior:The teachers, the environment and the encouragement that I've received from the entire community has resulted in who I am today and where I've gotten so far. So many teachers and friends have pushed me out of my comfort zone into a place I never thought I would be comfortable in or where I thought I could grow, but I was clearly wrong. As long as you show that you are trying in their class, and actually care, teachers will go out of their way to help you in anyway they can be use they actually care about you and your future.

    Brooklyn Technical High School

    • Brooklyn, NY
    • 1,477 reviews
Freshman:I love Brooklyn Tech! It has many great opportunities for students and it really opens up a path for each and every one of us, with different talents. The teachers and students are great, and the community, all in all, is fantastic! The tiny problem I have is that Brooklyn Tech is a huge high school and it takes me an hour to arrive to school from Queens. For me, personally, it was hard transitioning to a small middle school to a school with over 5,000 students! Maybe it's just me, but I'm pretty sure many others see this as an advantage, since there are many leadership opportunities in the SGO. If I can, I would give this school a rating of 4.5 but a 4 is fine for now. Anyway, that sums up my 5 months of experience in Brooklyn Tech, although there is much more I want to talk about!
