St. Croix Preparatory Academy Upper School

    • Stillwater, MN
    • 104 reviews
Niche User:I love he idea of a k-12 building. The relationships between such a wide range of both students and staff is a valuable asset. Academically challenging, yet 99% of the teachers care about the individual learning of each and every student. Love the uniforms and that the policy is enforced as well as can be done. Both ourselves and our upper school child feel "heard" and any issues we've encountered have been well resolved.

Not perfect, but what is? For our family, we truly love and appreciate SCPA!

    Math & Science Academy

    • Woodbury, MN
    • 41 reviews
High School Senior:I like the fact that everyone has a chance to strive in most classes. It's amazing that most teachers are so open and available for their students. Most teachers really would do anything to make sure their students learn and are getting good grades. However, there are stubborn professors with little availability and little understanding. The office often ignores student issues, unless they deal with bullying. The guidance counselor is almost non-existent and this is very upsetting to the upper classmen and we are virtually on our own.

    Eagle Ridge Academy

    • Minnetonka, MN
    • 46 reviews
High School Senior:Eagle Ridge has been a fantastic experience for me for the past 7 years. I miss some of the old school ERA which was a little more lenient and gave the students the opportunity to make their own responsible decisions rather than just force strict rules onto the students and treat them as if they cannot make their own decisions. The teachers make up for the strictness, they are the best ever and cannot be beat. The overall academic rigor is fantastic and will serve you well. Also the art program is superb for a highschool.

    Twin Cities Academy High School

    • Saint Paul, MN
    • 53 reviews
Niche User:Our son struggled in public, non charter environment. At TCA, he continued to struggle for his first two years, but the culture of high expectations at school and at home, helped him turn it around and do much better by the time he graduated. He is doing very well at college and thinks it's easier than it was at TCA. We are convinced that without TCA, he would have foundered and not gone on to college.

    Treknorth High School

    • Bemidji, MN
    • 28 reviews
Niche User:Over the course of my 6 years, I have come to love both the students and the staff of TrekNorth High School. I feel very fortunate to have gone to a place where people care- and not just about whether you are passing your classes but who you are, and where you come from. Not many high school students can relate to the relationships I have developed with my teachers and school in general. And not many can say that they have taken and passed 8 AP exams, with the help of such talented and caring teachers.

Main Street School of Performing Arts

    • Hopkins, MN
    • 90 reviews
High School Senior:I began high school in a very difficult place in my life. MSSPA made my life easier, better, and fun. I don't know where I would be right now if it wasn't for MSSPA. The teachers, the students, the theatre, the music, the dance, all of it is amazing. I wouldn't want to go to any other school. Everyone who attends MSSPA is lucky and should take the opportunities they have to make the most out of their experience.

I owe a lot to MSSPA. And I plan on visiting regularly.

    Harbor City International School

    • Duluth, MN
    • 28 reviews
Niche User:Harbor City was overall a great experience. I personally know I wouldn't have done so well, made the friends I did, or learned as much if I had gone to a different high school. My favorite experience was probably playing with the African music ensemble. There isn't as wide an array of opportunities in general, but the quality of what is available is so much better that to me it's definitely worth it.

High School Senior:It's super great to be able to go to a school that lets you express yourself & your art form. Everyone is accepted, and everyone is so supportive & caring towards each other. Spectrum High School

    • Elk River, MN
    • 55 reviews
Niche User:The education is stellar, but the students have found that their way to be cool is to go down roads that aren't good.

This school is unique because of how much the teachers are there for their students, whenever help is needed. I would choose this school again, but I would work much harder at doing AP/PSEO to get more college credits.

Academy for Sciences & Agriculture (AFSA) High School

    • Vadnais Heights, MN
    • 11 reviews
High School Senior:The school has many opportunities to do fun and educational things that most schools don't offer, making it unique. The only issue is that the school is no longer catered to the same audience that it was marketed to when I started there. It is now a place for troublemakers and those who aren't interested in the school's specialty (science and agriculture).

    MTS Minnesota Connections Academy

    • Saint Paul, MN
    • 60 reviews
Niche User:I appreciated the flexibility of an online school when I was registering for courses and was excited to have a way to get some classes out of the way before going on to do PSEO courses, but I ended up largely disliking the system. Online school is definitely for students who have a good academic support system in place or who are very skilled at personal time management and like to work ahead. The curriculum often included an excessive amount of busy work and I felt no real connection to most of my teachers, with the exception of one art teacher. Overall, I wouldn't choose to go back to an online school of any sort, but I can see how it would be an okay fit for transitional situations.

    PACT Charter Secondary School

    • Ramsey, MN
    • 59 reviews
Niche User:I had a better time at the community college I attended because there weren't as many regulations and teachers watching every move you make, looking for you to do something wrong. The classes were not too difficult, and some of the teachers were not very good.

    New Century Academy

    • Hutchinson, MN
    • 10 reviews
Recent Alumnus:The teachers were the best teachers in the world that cared about students. An English teacher pushed me to explore computer science and mathematics.

However the director fired any faculty member that was not a "yes man" to him.
