    • 182 reviews
Alum:Cranbrook is the best school in the world! After having a terrible time in elementary and middle school in the public school system, I switched to Cranbrook and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Cranbrook helped me to become a strong and confident student. I am now at a top 50 school worldwide and am succeeding at a level that would have never been possible without the amazing faculty and staff at Cranbrook!

    Detroit Country Day School

    • Beverly Hills, MI
    • 93 reviews
Alum:I spent 12 years at DCD and it is impossible to think of all the ways the school helped me become the person I am today. Country Day taught me more than just what you learn in class. I was constantly learning. In the classroom with teachers who genuinely cared about our well-being and success. On the field with coaches who pushed us to give our best effort. In the hallways with friends who understood just how lucky we were to be there.
Country Day did everything it set out to do for me, and I couldn't be more grateful. The demanding workload helped me understand how to not only balance studies, sports, clubs, and a social life, but thrive while doing so.
I'll always love everything about my school!

    Greenhills School

    • Ann Arbor, MI
    • 20 reviews
High School Junior:This school has done a lot for me. I have been attending since 6th grade and I am so thankful for the multiple oppurtunities it has given me. I have not only grown as a student and learner, but I have grown as a person. The atmosphere is loving and helpful. Everyone knows your name- even if they are a teacher two grades ahead of you. Thanks to Greenhills, I have a group of friends, containing both boys and girls, that is so special and unlike any other friend group. There is no doubt in my mind that we will be lifelong friends. The school takes pride in diversity and works to achieve a safe environment for everyone. I will say though, it is highly competitive in academics. This can get frustrating at times. Another downside is that people arent very accepting politically. It is a very liberal school- which I can appreciate sometimes, but when people hear anything outside of their element in that department everyone flips (even teachers sometimes.) I've also noticed that people like to put themselves in a disposition. The general population at greenhills is ungrateful due to the fact that they are very sheltered. Luckily, I have outside experiences that help me to put things into perspective. At greenhills, Exhaustion is a status symbol, and productivity determines self worth. Anxiety and breakdowns aren't all too surprising... This doesn't leave much room for fun. But regardless of all of this, it is still a very good school.

Niche User:Roeper is a fantastic place to learn, but also to grow as a human being. The academics, the athletics and the social experiences I had at Roeper were extremely valuable and directly responsible for my success as an adult. Being exposed to so many different people really helps a person understand their place in the world and how to interact (and show compassion for) the people around them.

Besides the personal growth you get at Roeper, the academics are clearly amazing. Being surrounded by a lot of smart people and amazing teachers really helps you learn. Some people take the academics more seriously than others, but if you are the type of kid who loves learning, Roeper is an awesome place.

Frankel Jewish Academy of Metro Detroit

    • West Bloomfield, MI
    • 47 reviews
High School Senior:Over all the general interactions among students and students, students and teachers is great. However there are various administration issues which need to be dealt with. Apart from those the school functions very well and there are multiple opportunity for students to learn new things as well as build relationships with new people.

Alum:Fantastic Experience! If you are able to send your child to this school, you will have no regrets and neither will your child. CC has an extremely accepting cutlure and the brotherhood is REAl. All the hype that this school places on brotherhood is not an exageration. I would go back and do it all over again if I could. The teachers are awesome, it academically rigorous, and does well preparing its students for a collegiate career. Some major things I have found talking to other college students about high school that I find truly unique about shamrock culture are as follow: 1) The Drive 2) All sports and clubs are celebrated equally 3) The "We're all in this together" mentality.

To understand what CC is all about go there and become the tradition and become part of the family.

I ranked diversity at 5 stars because of the school's demographic which are indivitive of its cultural and ethnic diversity.

Senior:At the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy there is much room for growth. Students are surrounding by diversity due to the school being located inside of Detroit and students coming from all over the state of Michigan. Since it is an all males school, students are allowed to build a strong brotherhood that will last longer than any other friendship in their lifetime. The academics are rigorous and many students leave due to said fact. The students that stay however know how to struggle, study, and are college prepared. All teachers are available for assistance if you ask.

    St. Mary's Preparatory School

    • Orchard Lake, MI
    • 32 reviews
Senior:I have had a great experience at St. Mary's Preparatory High School. When I first attended the school, I was nervous and did not know what to expect. My school experience prior to St. Mary's was with 95% African American students. My first day as a freshmen was really good. I met so many people from all backgrounds and nationalities. As my time continued on at St. Mary's, I participated in multiple sporting activities. I learned so many lessons playing sports at. I have gained a brotherhood with young men I will always cherish. The teachers at St. Mary's will always be remembered. They were so nice and really took an interest in me. Whenever I had problems, the teachers did not hesitate to help. So, you ask me how was my experience, it was the best and I will always cherish my experience at St. Mary's Preparatory High School. If there was one thing I would change, it would be upgrading the technology on the schools campus due to its age.

    Brother Rice High School

    • Bloomfield Hills, MI
    • 65 reviews
Senior:The academics here are pretty good. There are some very challenging classes and others not so much, but you will find that at any school. The teachers are always willing to help you as well as the tutors in the Achieve Plus Center. As for clubs and sports there is a wide array of these available to the students. If there isn't one you would like to be a part of then create it! The administration would be glad to help. This school is great all-around but the sense of community really stands out. The teachers and students are always looking out for each other which makes the high school experience easier. The brotherhood at this school is so prevalent and taught me to recognize the importance of working for something greater than myself.

Alum:Notre Dame Preparatory provides students with elite preparatory education, offering high academic programs such as the International Bachelorette Program and Advanced Placement. It also offers opportunities for students to learn a second language and nothing better than the two most spoken languages in the world: Chinese and Spanish. NDPMA follows the Marist Catholic congregation. Students are full of extracurricular opportunities; performing arts, sports, community service and many others. Faculty members are friendly, understanding but most importantly qualified. NDPA has a warm, friendly and highly academic as well as recreative environment, essential for elite preparatory education.

    University Liggett School

    • Grosse Pointe Woods, MI
    • 49 reviews
Niche User:This school is sort of unique in its elective courses, and in the way it challenges its students and prompts them to challenge themselves. While the teachers are great, and I would much rather go to Liggett than the other high schools in the area, there are a number of things that could be improved, several of which are to do with the students and general attitude. These things, however, are not among the reasons that I would not return. If I could do it over I would not return because the school does not have classes, electives, or events relating to my interests and goals for the future, which involve the culinary arts.

Parent:Everest Collegiate and Academy strives for excellence, and it is seen through the students, teachers, and staff. Christ is at the very center of the school and in everything they do. The students who have graduated have been well prepared for college and come back and say that their college classes are easy compared to what they experienced at Everest. The teachers and staff give individualized attention to all the students.

I have been at the Academy for eight years now, and I become prouder of the institution every single day. I would recommend Sacred Heart without reservation for anyone, as we're always looking to grow the SHA family.

    Michigan Islamic Academy

    • Ann Arbor, MI
    • 24 reviews
High School Senior:I love this school, I have been attending for so long and have been through many ups and downs with this school. I have made lifelong friends through this school that have literally nearly become my siblings. Although, with every school there are downsides and this school is great in every aspect almost except that privacy is not really a priority and sometimes the administration will go to great lengths just to get to the bottom of a small thing that has happened between students (not bullying by the way) and will drag something and keep it fresh in people's minds even though the student's are over it already. Other than this factor, the education at the school is wonderful. The environment is actually welcoming, the students are all very nice and most care for one another and the atmosphere formed in classrooms is kind of familial. I love this school, mostly because I love my classmates, but also because it's just a nice place to be with the exception of a few people everyone is likeable.

    Hillsdale Academy

    • Hillsdale, MI
    • 22 reviews
Niche User:I would not trade my time at Hillsdale Academy for the world. It is an integral part of who I am, and the people I met there will always be my second family. True, I had to work harder than I could ever have imagined -- for instance, each senior class must do an independent science research project and write a 15 to 20-page paper for the humanities on top of the college application process and regular coursework, which already takes 4 to 5 hours a night if you want an "A." However, you also get the benefit of the trip to Greece and Italy for all juniors and seniors every other year, which is amazing! Everyone gets to go, no matter the financial difficulty, because the faculty and community is so dedicated to ensuring that everyone gets to cap off their classical, liberal arts education with a two-week trip to the places where Western Civilization was born. Also, if you are a part of the French club, you get to go to France, which I also did. My experience on the track and basketball teams were incredible, and I will always have a particular fondness for my time in the drama program, as I hope to pursue acting someday. Hillsdale Academy's productions really inspired me to the craft, and I finished out my career there portraying the character of Sarah Brown in "Guys and Dolls," which was a dream come true.

    Plymouth Christian Academy

    • Canton, MI

Alum:Can't say enough about PCA! Plymouth Christian is an academically competitive, spiritually nurturing, training ground for young minds. My time at PCA prepared me well not only for college, but also for graduate school. The spiritual foundation I developed during my highschool years has served me well during the ups and downs of life. However, my favorite aspect of PCA is the lasting relationships I maintain to date not only with my classmates, but also with their families/parents. Great school, with dedicated faculty and parents who truly care about your well being.

    Hackett Catholic Prep

    • Kalamazoo, MI
    • 25 reviews
Senior:I love attending Hackett. I feel as though I am ready to head on to college and tackle problems throughout the rest of my life. With help from teachers, administration, and coaches, Hackett has prepared me for anything that will come my way. I love the small class sizes, the individualized attention, and all the opportunities one has when attending a small school. However, my favorite thing about Hackett is the community surrounding the school. Over the past four years, I have come to know students, parents, and teachers so well that they feel like a second family. I know that, after I graduate, whenever I come back to Kalamazoo, the Hackett community will always welcome me home.

    St. Mary Cathedral School

Senior:St. Mary Cathedral is a great school for all catholic and non-catholic goers. While they do have a religion required, the non-catholic kids will still experience other great teachers and find themselves ahead of the public schools. The students are respecting and not much slander goes around.

    Divine Child High School

    • Dearborn, MI
    • 122 reviews
Senior:I've been at the Divine Child community since second grade. In 2013, I entered 9th grade at Divine Child High School. From the start, I was pretty comfortable. Having some peers who I had known since I was 6 was nice. Yet, being such a small school, I got to become close to those who I've never met before. Almost any student or faculty at DCHS will tell you the community is fantastic. We are truly a family. I appreciate the tightness within our school. This flows into the academics aspect of Divine Child. Because the teacher-student, student-student and teacher-teacher relationships are so well bonded, learning has taken a level of intimacy not found in over-sized public schools. Also, being a private Catholic school, DCHS is held to a higher moral standard. I think it has upheld that standard throughout my time here, and would like to think that has personally made me a better person. Once a Falcon, always a Falcon!
