    Episcopal School of Acadiana

    • Broussard, LA
    • 49 reviews
Middle School Student:Wow do I love this school. The students have so much freedom on and off campus. The reason for this is because of our honor code. The honor code states that "I will not lie, cheat, or steal, or withhold information of those who do. " This allows students to trust each other, and others know they can count on me to do the right thing. The teachers sometimes give you things to do at home that you can easily cheat on, including tests and homework. I was also a part of the varsity cross country team as a 7th grader, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Another great thing about esa is there are no tryouts for any team. Anyone who decides that they want to play a sport can play. My point is that ESA is the best school ever and I am very thankful that I am able to go here.

    Episcopal School of Baton Rouge

    • Baton Rouge, LA

High School Junior:I definitely think EHS is a lot more liberated than other schools as we are allowed to do things inside and outside of class you wouldn't be caught dead doing in public schools. I think the most notably experiences at EHS are like big events the high school grade levels do together within school, such as warball, field day, Homecoming week, launch day, etc. And it's really fun and exciting to see all the grades bond when participating, decorating or cheering on fellow classmates during these events. Events like this definitely add to the uniqueness of EHS but it also adds to the atmosphere as each student is able to connect, grow and learn with each other.

    St. Martin's Episcopal School

    • Metairie, LA
    • 30 reviews
High School Senior:My PERSONAL experience was pretty amazing. It was a culture shock, but allowed me to see things in a different way. I know that if I would have gone there for four years, I would have been overwhelmed and most likely had left mid high school. Two years was just enough for me to experience the great things it had to offer. I love theater, and I think the English department here is bogus. At my old school, students were challanged without being drowned inreading assignments and english papers. I hate the english department. My teacher ast year was way better thn this year though. I love the administration. They were so kind to me. I will never say anything bad about them. One thing is, I think the teachers and students alike need divesification courses. I felt alone at this school in terms of race because I recieved biased views that were actually defaming to my race as a whole but they did not understand it.

    Jesuit High School

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 98 reviews
Senior:I came to this private Catholic school in Mid-City New Orleans when i was a freshman. Jesuit High School built a base for my academic and spiritual development. The faculty and curriculum is very challenging, and it pushes the students to work hard and learn constantly. The spiritual life is very strong at Jesuit, with masses and Christianity classes for all grade levels. I myself am not Catholic or even Christian, but I found the religion classes eye-opening. I learned more about Catholicism, informed other people about my beliefs, and strengthened my own faith. This is a great school, and I recommend going to Jesuit High School. It is by far the best high school in the New Orleans area and in Louisiana!

    Louise S. McGehee School

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 36 reviews
Parent:This school takes a young girl and produces an well-educated, poised, self-confident young woman who knows her mind and who will excel in college. Unlike other schools in New Orleans, McGehee specifically focuses on teaching 21st century learning skills such as communication, collaboration and creativity, rather than a large quantity of AP classes. In this way, I think the graduates are more prepared for life and education beyond high school and not just getting a leg up on the college classes they will take.

Senior:Loyola has a beautiful Christian community filled with a lot of bright spirits. We are like a big family. We laugh, cry, and grow together. The amazing thing about Loyola is the loving and kind teachers who strive to encourage and inspire the students. They understand that school isn't the most intriguing thing and try their best to make it enjoyable. The Loyola community is committed to building men and women of conscience, character , and compassion who put their faith in actin for the Greater Glory of God. It's an amazing and wonderful place to learn about oneself and others.

    St. Paul's School

    • Covington, LA
    • 34 reviews
Alum:The brotherhood created through academics, athletics, and extra curricular clubs at St. Paul's lasts a lifetime. I still keep in touch with classmates who have moved across the country for college and their future. The student/falculty relationships are excellent. Lasallian brothers still run and teach at SPS. The day I met Brother Ray (principal at the time) he knew my name and my birthday already! Most sport coaches are also teachers that interact with students on and off the field or court. The campus consists of multiple buildings with beautiful landscaping much like many college campuses. The facilities include a baseball field, a turf soccer/football field and track, basketball gym, wrestling gym, tennis courts, a large pond, and a theater. Since I have graduated, the school has established concentrated college prep courses such as pre-engineering, pre-med, and economics. Those course will definitely give graduating students a head start in their future academic endeavors.

    Catholic High School

    • Baton Rouge, LA
    • 70 reviews
High School Senior:Catholic High has helped advance me academically, athletically, musically, socially, and spiritually. I know that I am cared about there. The religion curriculum has not only advanced my knowledge of my own faith, but also broadened my understanding of morality and faith in general. It has also helped me understand how to forge my own informed viewpoints. One of my favorite things about Catholic high is that there exists a community of friends for absolutely everyone, especially if they search. Whether it's football, computer programming, ultimate frisbee, chess, or none of the above, there is a community for everybody. It's not uncommon for people to be involved in totally different pursuits, and enjoy them all.

    Mount Carmel Academy

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 141 reviews
Junior:Attending Mount Carmel has been the best experience of my life thus far. Mount Carmel has helped mold me into the individual I am today; the amiable staff and girls at Mount Carmel never fail to make my days brighter. Even though the workload can be overbearing, I believe Mount Carmel is doing their best to prepare me for college and beyond, helping me develop beneficial skills I will use in the future. In addition, the various extra-curricular activities Mount Carmel offers helps everyone discover where they belong and has encouraged me to break out of my shell and be a person I thought I couldn't be. I am beyond blessed to be a part of the MCA community!

    St. Joseph's Academy

    • Baton Rouge, LA
    • 339 reviews
Senior:St.Joseph's Academy is a great school and given the opportunity, this should be your number 1 choice in schools. There are many sports and intermural programs along with numerous clubs including: drama, respect life, art, cooking, and many more! The only "downside" to attending this amazing school would be that it's an all-girls academy, but besides that the programs are very engaging and the teachers really focus on helping you succeed!

    St. Mary's Dominican High School

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 135 reviews
Senior:St. Mary's Dominican High School is the epitome of a home away from home. It is not just a place to learn but a place to grow as an individual. Also, I feel that I will be fully prepared for college, especially after talking to past seniors at Dominican. My mother is a Dominican alum. She fell in love with Dominican as a young adult, and now so have I. I have made amazing bonds with girls that I know I will never forget. I also have grown closer to God and strengthened my faith. I accredit each and every one of my academic achievements to the faculty at St. Mary's Dominican High School. Kudos to them for shaping young girls into well educated young adults. I love Dominican High School!

    Ascension Episcopal School

    • Lafayette, LA
    • 32 reviews
Senior:My experience at Ascension has been life changing. Before I came to this school I was an anti social kid with lots of issues and no friends. When I came to this school, the students and faculty just accepted me and taught that its ok to be who you truly are because you are no one else but yourself. That's something to be proud of! Within a year my entire life had shifted, I had gone from this shy kid to this super outgoing and social guy who loved to preform in front of people and make new friends and meet new people. Ascension is definitely one memory that i will keep with me forever. The only thing I would change about Ascension is that I wish the curriculum was a little bit harder so that it could have challenged me more and prepared me more, but honestly I think I'm just fine. I love this place.

Senior:I loved every aspect of my school! I had chapel every Wednesday, which is very important to me. The college prep education is one of the best in my area. Technology and the athletic programs were awesome. Most of all it is a small school, so I was able to get the attention needed from my teachers.

    Ursuline Academy High School

    • New Orleans, LA
    • 51 reviews
Niche User:The school's administration is very caring and devoted and they try their best to make high school a fun, educational, pleasant, and sufficiently preparatory experience. In agreement with other reviewers, the extracurricular options could use quite a bit of work and the pressure to be religious can be suffocating at times, but that's to be expected with a Catholic school. They are accommodating to students with disabilities (to a certain, degree, of course, and provided that the accommodations don't disrupt other students) and do an amazing job of genuinely caring about students' medical/special needs and, even better, their feelings and dignity. I do think the pressure/stress/workload can be significantly improved, but that's a problem I have with the American school system as a whole, not just this facility. The administration does well with making every student feel included, but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the students themselves. However, this, too, is to be expected with an all-girl high school.

In sum, the teachers are (mostly) phenomenal, the administration is strict but caring, the religious aspect is admirable in theory but can be stifling/irritating in practice, the faculty and staff are friendly and accommodating, and the teachers and administration work hard to make Ursuline a second home for us, including concerted efforts to eradicate bullying/catty behavior and encourage a feeling of sisterhood and family amongst the students. The all-girl aspect has made the experience more comfortable and encouraged a more realistic view of female beauty standards, and there is an extremely tight-knit, intimate atmosphere that is pleasant and supportive.

    St. Louis Catholic High School

    • Lake Charles, LA
    • 67 reviews
Niche User:My overall experience at St. Louis was excellent. This school creates an extremely inviting environment that encourages you to branch out to other students and challenges you to do your best academically and athletically. The lessons (both in the classroom and out) that I've learned from this school are priceless and will stay with me forever. The religious background of this school calls for a loving, caring, all-accepting environment that enables all the students to experience diversity, leadership and coordination skills, and unity. I would definitely choose to go to this school again if I could do it all over again.

Alum:I went from public school prior to high school and at first hated the smaller school, but it could not have prepared me more for college. I was not nearly as worried about impressing friends I had class with every day and my teachers really made efforts to see that I succeeded and walked me through everything I needed to move onto college.

    Vermilion Catholic High School

    • Abbeville, LA
    • 33 reviews
High School Senior:My overall experience at Vermilion Catholic has been amazing and has changed me in ways thought I never cold have changed. It is truly like we are a family when I'm at school. We all work together, faculty and students, to get the job done. We also have a lot of fun in the mist of all that hard work. Like last year we sold enough raffle tickets to have a Fun Day. So we have games, inflatable slides, and human hamster balls to play with outside, along with some music and laser tag. One thing I remember the most from this day was when the teachers ran through the inflatable slide obstacle course like in a relay. It was fun to watch them have fun as well. if I had to do high school all over again, I would definitely go to Vermilion Catholic again because it made me the person I am today and taught me about the world and my faith

Senior:I absolutely loved my experience at Vandebilt and would recommend attending to anyone! I came from a small school about 30 minutes away from Vandebilt, and I knew no one going to the school! The teachers, administrators, and students were the most welcoming group. I truly felt that I belonged! The school is fantastically decorated each summer, which enhances the overall appeal. I joined many clubs and organizations and remained determined in my studies. I loved the use of technology because it deepened the lessons and provided the best tools for everyone's learning ability. The rigor of my classes has certainly prepared me for college. Vandebilt offers anything to help create a fun learning atmosphere and excellent social life for students!
