    Devon Preparatory School

    • Devon, PA
    • 62 reviews
High School Senior:Devon has its ups and downs. There are times everyone has where they hate it and times where they love it. Friendship is the main reason why people stick out the bad times. Every guy at Devon has a group of friends, who they can always rely on to get them through the bad. There are guys you can't stand there, just like any school, but there is always a group for everyone with friends who have your back. Devon offers a lot of new experiences such as week long field trips at battlefields, where you stay in hotels. But really all the great times are the times you make with your friends.

Parent:Absolutely amazing school! It is a diamond in the rough for certain. I currently have 3 children in the lower school program and we are in our 4th year at Aquinas Academy. You are truly part of a family there. Beyond the academics, Aquinas is a place where the faculty really cares about the well being of your children. I could think of no better hands to place my children in while they are not with me!

    Malvern Preparatory School

    • Malvern, PA
    • 40 reviews
Parent:The school, under the current head of school (2012-2016), is not what it was however he is being replaced and it is expected to return to its former greatness. The Christian Service Program is exceptional, unlike any other school in the area. Students are required to do some form of service in distressed areas, i.e., Camden, NJ. The summer between their junior and senior year, the boys go on a trip in areas across the global, my son went to South Africa; these trips are life altering for these young men. Overall, the experience is a good one and, I believe, the school with the change in headmaster position, will return to it's former glory.

    St. Joseph's Preparatory School

    • Philadelphia, PA
    • 66 reviews
Junior:This school is extremely competitive and does not get the recognition it deserves. It is much more challenging academically and athletically than most other schools. However, people and other schools don't give us the credit and respect that the Prep community provides for each and every one of their students. It is extremely upsetting to see us ranked this low. Who cares if we don't have a world class campus or are internationally recognized. We are the Prep, with the benefit of the doubt, men for and with others.

    • Villanova, PA

Senior:I love this school so much. The school spirit is infectious and my fellow classmates are so incredible. I look forward to coming to school every day! There are so many clubs and sports options for the students. The teachers are amazing and the classes are definitely preparing me for college. Essay writing is a piece of cake and math is super easy to understand thanks to the great teachers that we have. The environment is wonderful and I know that I'm 100% ready for college because of this school. The college, as well as the guidance counselors, are super helpful all throughout the college application process. This is the best high school in this area and I would definitely recommend this school to other families that I know.

    Holy Ghost Preparatory School

    • Bensalem, PA
    • 72 reviews
Recent Alumnus:I think one thing that sticks out about Holy Ghost Prep is the sense of community. From my first day to my last day there, I always felt important and apart of something greater. Everyone at Holy Ghost was seen as an asset and brought a uniqueness to the student body. There were a numerous amount of clubs, sports, and other extra curricular activities that took into account all student's interests. I remember always being able to go outside of my comfort zone and try something new without fear of being judged by my peers. Because of this, I found new interests and hobbies that I still take part in today. Holy Ghost's sigma is "Cor unum et anima una" meaning "In one heart, and one mind." I believe that Holy Ghost encompassed this at all times and truly created the school as one. If I could do it all again, Holy Ghost Prep would be the only choice for me. I cannot imagine being apart of any other student body than at Holy Ghost.

    Vincentian Academy

    • Pittsburgh, PA
    • 37 reviews
Senior:School building itself is abysmal. Many teachers are good but the ones that aren't are not even remotely competent. Very hit or miss, although most are good. Overall academics are outstanding, if you're in the honors or IB classes. They do not understand how to downplay the academics for the non-honors classes, so they end up not learning anything and just barely ready for college. Do not go to Vincentian if you are not planning on taking the IB program; it is simply not worth the tuition or your time. Also they can be really weird with what they punish. We have kids who are outright a danger to other students that stayed until the administration finally was obligated to keep them off of school grounds, but one kid swan dives onto a cafeteria table and just instantly is expelled on the spot.

    La Salle College High School

    • Wyndmoor, PA
    • 89 reviews
Senior:La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania is hands down the greatest high school. From diversity in the classroom to state of the art facilities it is the best fit for any student. The teachers are always willing to offer help. Each department allows students to meet with a teacher at any period of the day. Teachers will always sacrifice time before or after school to help as well. The athletic fields are state of the art. With brand new turf fields, they are some of the best in the state. Our buildings however are said to be much better. With an indoor and outdoor pool the swim team managed to take home six straight state championships and 26 straight Philadelphia Catholic Titles. Also, La Salle is the only school in the ENTIRE country to have deal with Microsoft. Every student has the chance to be Microsoft certified by the time they graduate high school!

    Mount St. Joseph Academy

    • Flourtown, PA
    • 96 reviews
Niche User:This was the best time of my life by far! The people I met there I know I will be friends with for the rest of my life, when you leave Mount you leave with sisters. The curriculum is challenging and the competitiveness of the school can be stressful at times, but it makes you better. Even though the stress occurs, everyone, including other students, are there to help in whatever way they can. Mount is a community in which people flourish and become supportive, intelligent, independent young women. If I was able to redo my life, I would choose Mount every time!

    Villa Maria Academy High School

    • Malvern, PA
    • 64 reviews
Niche User:Attending Villa Maria was one of the best decisions I could have made, and I wish I could go back. I came into college feeling extremely prepared, and I very quickly realized just how great of a job Villa did in prepping me for college. I was able to succeed in my classes from the start, whereas many of my peers who did not have as strong of foundation struggled. Villa made me into the person I am today. The school taught me to never second guess myself. The school helps form independent and strong women by empowering them to engage in class discussions, teaching them how to succeed in college and beyond, and giving them many opportunities to lead. The sense of community and family at Villa is something I have never experienced before. Each faculty member, staff member, and student at the school cares so deeply for one another. All want to see everyone at the school succeed and work to make that happen. The school pride seen at Pep Rallies, games, plays, performances, etc. is unreal and extremely touching. The traditions at the school not only link the students and alum, but they are also extremely fun! The school races robot pigs, classes sing songs to one another, the girls dress up for Halloween, and the Pep Rallies are always an event! There are more sentimental traditions as well, such as Daisy Chain when the Juniors officially become seniors, Carol and Ring when the girls are given their class rings, and Big/Little events in which the girls are assigned a "Big Sister" upperclassmen! I am so proud to be a Villa Marian for copious reasons. If I could, I would do it all over again!

Alum:SH was not just a school but a unique, challenging & nurturing environment that did more than prepare me for college, it prepared me for life. The academic trials & rigorous coursework I experienced while attending SH prepared me for the challenges ahead in college & gave me confidence to realize my own potential in competing w/ my peers. SH cultivates independence in each student while maintaining a strong sense of responsibility & belonging to the greater community. The opportunities in this little school on a hill are boundless- from academics to the arts, to athletic teams & strength of community service. Small class sizes w/ excellent student:teacher promote inclusion & a level of specialized education that can’t be matched.

Years after my experience at SH I still maintain close relationships w/ many of my classmates. These women are some of the most remarkable, talented & fiercely genuine individuals that I am lucky enough to call my best friends.

    Scranton Preparatory School

Senior:Scranton Preparatory School is a Jesuit high school. It features the high level of standards that comes with a Jesuit education, namely excellence of curriculum and dedication of teachers who really have the best interest of the students at heart. I feel that this school prepares students well for all aspects of life, from becoming outstanding citizens in their communities to readiness for college life. Scranton Prep graduates rarely compromise on college choices, most of them get into their first choice of college.

    Nazareth Academy High School

    • Philadelphia, PA
    • 118 reviews
Senior:The academics at Nazareth Academy High School are great but due to the small enrollment size, there is not a large course selection. While I do feel mostly equipped to attend college, I also feel that I did not write enough papers and essays while at Nazareth. The clubs and activities at Nazareth are very well-organized and parent involvement is good for the most part. The student body is diverse in where they reside in and around the city of Philadelphia and somewhat economically, but certainly not racially. However, school spirit at Nazareth is very fervent and overall, I have very much enjoyed my experience attending Nazareth Academy High School.

    Merion Mercy Academy

    • Merion Station, PA
    • 39 reviews
Senior:I love Merion. It's a school that has a lot of weird quirks that make it so special. Weenie Roast, Advent Angels, and so many other moments make this school so special and unique. Although the academics can be stressful at times, teachers would be happy to help any student struggling. The sisterhood is definitely real and there is a sense of community among the grades. There are many things I would change about the school, though. Many of the teachers are difficult understand when they're teaching. Some policies are ridiculous and some punishments are more lenient though it should've been much worse. The administration is unreasonable. In going to Merion, you are paying for the wonderful experience you'll likely have, not much else.

    Central Catholic High School

    • Pittsburgh, PA
    • 107 reviews
Parent:Central Catholic was a great experience for both my boys. I believe that CC at time has an unfair reputation of catering to student athletes. Both my boys were NOT athletes and excelled tremendously at CCHS. I feel that it's the parents that bring this reputation to the school not the boys. Regardless of being an athlete or not, these boys feel a sense of community and brotherhood and always support their teams whether participating or not. CCHS has a tremendous reputation around the world and being an alumni is an honor. Central guys always have their brothers' back and help and support each all the time.

    Venango Catholic High School

    • Oil City, PA
    • 14 reviews
Alum:I loved my high school, it really prepped me for college because of its advanced courses, and I never felt bullied or threatened there. We never had an emergency where violence occurred, even though we were prepared. The only things I would like to see changed would be more diversity and population within the school. It was nice to be able to call everyone by name because of our small numbers, but it would also be nice to have new faces.

    Oakland Catholic High School

    • Pittsburgh, PA
    • 233 reviews
Senior:Oakland Catholic High School has been a very special and life-changing experience for me and I am confident that many other students would agree too. Being at Oakland has helped me build relationships with many professionals and the students around me. There are many opportunities to meet new people such as Masque, Crew, Art Club, Golf, & a never-ending list of many other sports and clubs. Along with the clubs and sports, there are other ways in which teachers and staff promote friendliness and diversity and that happens in the classroom with group activities, seminar-style teachings, and simple games so that students can learn and have fun while doing so. Not only does Oakland Catholic promote diversity, it promotes college readiness for it is a college-preparatory institution with great alumni from well-acclaimed schools teaching students everyday. Overall, Oakland Catholic is a great institution where you can make friends, prepare for your future, all while growing closer to God.

Niche User:I loved Central. I wasn't your average kid that went to this school, and I had a very difficult home life. Central Catholic was like a sanctuary, a home away from the madness that enveloped my life at times. I never wanted to leave and thats why I was so involved. Many people have mixed feelings about this school, but I will honestly tell you that if you send your child to this school, and they are kind and respectful, and willing to become better students, they will succeed in all aspects at ACCHS. The way to get the most out of this school is by doing the most: join clubs, volunteer, play sports, join the band, go to football games! The more active the better. It makes the studying and the exams and the difficulty of many classes so worth it. Not only will you get the most out of exta curriculars but, CCHS will challenge you academically. It'll be hard, but help will ALWAYS be given, and all you have to do is ask for it. Never shy away. My first few weeks at CCHS were hard, I will admit, some of the upper classmen were jerks, but a majority really attempt to help out. Now with the Viking Mentors program, and similar things like that, they also have a summer program, they genuinely attempt to get students acclimated to their new environment. Need help? You just have to ask. Any bullying? You report it immediately and there will be consequences for that student, or atleast a really scary talking too. My point is, this may seem like a rich kid preppy school on the outside, but internally it's really a family that attempts to improve your life in the best way. They want to see you succeed and further your education. Their job is to atleast make sure you get out of their school on the right foot, after that it's your job to see everything through that they've prepared you for, IF you've allowed them to prepare you for it. I am proud to be a CCHS Alumni, I love my Alma Mater.

    Quigley Catholic High School

    • Baden, PA
    • 35 reviews
Niche User:My son had a successful freshman year. Quigley is a smaller school and the student body and faculty share Catholic values. Therefore, it was quite easy for my son to acclimate. As an onlooker, it seemed that the students treated one another with respect and acceptance. The academics were stimulating for my son, but also quite challenging. I'm proud that he rose to the challenge, even receiving recognition for exceptional performance in his Spanish language course. If I had it to do over, I would send my son to Quigley, and I also hope to send my two younger children to Quigley.

    Trinity High School

    • Camp Hill, PA
    • 50 reviews
Parent:Trinity HS has been one of the best experiences for my son, Nikolas. Going to a Catholic Elementary school and then transitioning to Trinity was effortless. Most of the teachers and faculty are outstanding. Nik is now a Junior and has a current gpa average of 3.8 He strives to be on top and that is because of the teachers and students pushing each other to always do better. He has met some of the nicest people that I am sure he will be friends with for a life time. The only thing we wish we could change was the lack of air conditioning and the food could be better. Oh well!

Niche User:My favorite experience is spirit day every year where every grade competes against each other in a series of competitions to see which class is crowned the ultimate winner at the end of the day. Senior:The last four years I have spent at OLSH have been an interesting time. Coming in as a freshman I felt as though I was adequately integrated into the high school scene, but this integration pretty quickly faded and I found myself working and achieving through my own merit as opposed to being catered to all of the time. This has proven to be useful because personal drive has led me to succeed in standardized tests, applications, etc. There is a variety of well-equipped teachers and seemingly under-prepared teachers, in whose class again one must have the drive to teach themselves. Athletics were competitive and enjoyable, as well as the club opportunities the school has to offer. Some of the administration and staff seemed as though they did not help much, nor did I necessarily feel entirely prepared for my college search, for their preparation presentations came far too late to be of substantial use.

    DuBois Area Catholic School

    • Du Bois, PA
    • 44 reviews
Parent:I love this school! I am extremely grateful to have Central as an option for my child. There are numerous extracurricular activities that the students may engage in (including extras in the elementary school as well as the middle/high school) including co-ops with other local public schools for programs not offered at Central. There are also numerous opportunities for parents to volunteer and be involved at the school. The teachers are very good about helping a student when they are struggling or getting them to appropriate help. The tuition is very reasonable especially if you participate in the rotary tuition rebate program and there are some scholarships available. I also love how they are bringing a larger focus on technology into the classrooms all the way from K-12. Overall, I would say this is an excellent choice of school.
