    Regis High School

    • New York, NY
    • 86 reviews
Senior:Regis is an extremely difficult school to get into, and depending on the courseload/extracurriculars one takes it can be very overbearing, especially if a commute is involved. I am currently on the soccer and volleyball teams, both of which played in the city championship this past year.

    School of the Holy Child

    • Rye, NY
    • 12 reviews
Parent:Our daughter attended Holy Child from 5-12th grade, an experience that absolutely helped shape the wonderful young woman she is today. She is about to graduate from a top college, has a job after graduation and is ready to start the next phase of her life. She would tell you herself that so much of her success has come from the confidence, love of learning and strength of community she had at Holy Child. She is still in contact with some of her teachers and draws on the lessons she learned while a student there. It is worth the investment and then some!

    Dominican Academy

    • New York, NY
    • 108 reviews
High School Senior:Dominican Academy not only offers a wide-range of rigorous courses, but it also is a second home for many of its students. The teachers are supportive and genuinely care about the wellbeing and academic success of their students. Teachers always offer extra classes and help sessions if need be and reach out to form relationships with for students. The small class size allows many classes to be discussion based, allowing students to find their voice, develop their own ideas, and express themselves in a well-spoken and educated manner. Personally, I have found great friends and mentors here that I believe are truly singular to Dominican Academy. Students are encouraged to take opportunity of leadership positions and join extracurricular activities, all while gaining valuable global perspectives through study and service. Its the best!

    Christian Brothers Academy

    • Syracuse, NY
    • 126 reviews
Senior:CBA is wonderful. The teachers are fun, energetic, great at teaching, and help you when you don't understand something. The extreme diversity of extra-curricular activities is astounding, and I had so many things I could do, I didn't manage everything. CBA has its own special culture that brings all its students together. I plan to stay in touch with many of my classmates throughout college, and beyond.

    Fordham Preparatory School

    • Bronx, NY
    • 148 reviews
High School Senior:Fordham is a place where smart and dedicated kids love being in the presence of other intelligent kids and having a great time. It is made of well-rounded kids, so while we do excel in the classroom, most of us are involved in sports or other extra-curriculars. The teachers are treat people who cares about their students. They are incredibly intelligent and enthusiastic. I love Fordham and it is the perfect school for boys. They are challenged inside the classroom they are capable of being, but more importantly they are challenged outside of the classroom to become men for others.

    The Ursuline School

    • New Rochelle, NY
    • 111 reviews
Recent Alumnus:The number of students who are children of Alumni is pretty amazing. There is a sense of family and caring. Theme days and top authors coming to speak, Senior Flag Football, Ring Day ..the love spirit and joy is palpable. Themes for Ring Day are created by the Juniors for the seniors secretively...so it is a surprise when seniors arrive to school ring day.

The only school day of the year where students can yell as loud as possible.

Sports are great....a number of athletes get scholarships or are recruited. Track and Field is combined with the all boys school Iona Prep near.by. Top sports...Swimming, Tennis, Basketball, Cheer Leading, Soccer.

    Iona Preparatory School

    • New Rochelle, NY
    • 80 reviews
Junior:Iona is a great place. If you are currently reading this, you are either just curious or you are considering sending your son here. It is worth every penny. It has so far helped me connect and I have already made some great friends. This place carries heavy weight in the outside world. On a few college visits so far, the admissions office has already taken me aside to ask if I was from Iona Prep and it really sets you apart from other applicants. The diversity is good but if you don't socialize during 9th or 10th grade, you will be 'stuck' in a single friend group. The food and facilities are fantastic and the environment makes a nice, peaceful place to learn. I know you here this everywhere but our sports are as good as it gets, with experienced and dedicated coaches at every level. Not to mention we have won a league championship in every sport in the past 5 years. This school covers all aspects of high school u need and is worth every dollar.

    McQuaid Jesuit Preparatory School

    • Rochester, NY
    • 85 reviews
Alum:I will always look back fondly on my time at McQuaid. The teachers, my students, the clubs, and the sports programs all came together to create an atmosphere, not just of learning, but of love. Everyone I met wanted to be there, wanted to better themselves, and cared about their brothers around them.

Most people remember high school as hell, but I will never forget that in my time at McQuaid I discovered what I wanted to do with my life, I formed friendships and memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life, and I was made ready for anything that came next.

I've almost completed my undergrad, and look forward to earning my masters, and I know that I would not have dreamed of attempting either had I not gone to McQuaid. Go Knights!

Niche User:Excellent four years that helped me grow as a student and individual, looking forward and driving for my personal.best!

Tough elementary and middle school with lazy eye as 3rd grader, undiagnosed ADD, until 8th grade made learning a challenge.

Set on raised my self confidence, worked with me to meet their expectations, and change my thoughts on what the future might be like.! I realized that I am smart, can do what I put my mind to, and how to get where I want to go.

Alum:Our Lady of Mercy is a place for girls who are serious about academics, leadership, and sports. The teachers are stupendous and truly want to help each individual succeed. Homework is extremely challenging but it helps prepare you for college. Sports are mediocre, however, the basketball program is very strong. I would totally recommend this school! 10/10!

Our Lady of Mercy High School

    • Rochester, NY
    • 126 reviews
Junior:Met some great people here who will be friends for life. We've bonded over how weird the school is, especially the teachers. There are some interesting characters here. There are a couple great teachers, especially in the high school but lower grades typically have worse teachers. The all-girl environment helped to boost my confidence and definitely provided me with the right tools to thrive in college. If you are interested in STEM, the opportunities here for engineering related classes and computer classes are low but the counseling dept. does a great job with sending out info for out of school events related to science and other opportunities. If you don't like quirky-ness and can't handle stress well, this might not be the school for you. The workload is pretty high but after a while you learn to time manage very well. My biggest complaint is lack of organization especially for clubs and sports.

    Xavier High School

    • New York, NY
    • 94 reviews
Senior:Making my decision in eighth grade to attend Xavier High School was the best decision of my life. Xavier opens you to resources from all over and allows you to meet people of all different backgrounds. It is an extremely friendly community as everyone greets you with a huge hello and everyone is there for you. If you ask anyone for help they respond with an "Of course"! I enjoy many things about Xavier. Playing on the basketball team allowed me to join a brotherhood and helped me form life long friendships. I have enjoyed every second of Xavier and would not change one thing about it.

    Notre Dame High School

    • Elmira, NY
    • 10 reviews
Niche User:The reason I say that this school is the best is because I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. I've attended private catholic schools my entire life, so I really like that we have small class sizes and all the teachers know practically everybody. Our students for the most part are involved, well rounded kids. I've had a great time participating on the girls basketball and track teams and I've had some of the best experiences of my life with these teams. Everybody is so supportive of each other and we push each other to be the best that we can be. Also, I feel like I am getting a quality education that will help prepare me for college. Not only this, but our school has high expectations for each of the students as well, encouraging respectfulness, politeness, dedication, and other important qualities that will help us to be responsible adults when we are older. Overall it has been a great experience at Notre Dame and I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I've made great friends and learned many lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life.

Niche User:I would recommend anyone to attend this high school. My brother is currently in the excelled junior high program that is offered within Xaverian, and he will go on to attend this high school as well. It has forever been an all boys Catholic academy, and spending 4 years with the same young men is what makes this school unique because in the end we realize we are all brothers. I would do the four years I spent here all over again, I just wish that it was not going co-ed starting September!

Parent:My two oldest sons graduated here in 2007 and 2009, and my daughter is a Senior this year. Amazing school atmosphere, very joyful and very friendly! Academics are excellent, my sons both graduated from top colleges, one with a Bachelors degree in Business, the other with his Doctorate in Physical Therapy. (His wife also graduated here in 2009 and is graduating in a few months as a doctor going into Oncology/Surgery.) They all feel they had an excellent education at Tyburn and were well prepared for college. But beyond the academics it is a warm, caring, friendly environment where all students are loved - and character, integrity and values are a regular part of the school day. The teachers are here because they love teaching, and the kids have a lot of fun! My daughter doesn't want to graduate - she loves being at Tyburn Academy!

    St. Anthony's High School

    • Huntington Station, NY
    • 290 reviews
Senior:I am an international student who is currently studying at St. Anthony's for my senior year. At first I was very excited and also a little nervous before I came here from China because I was afraid and curious about what kind of students and teachers I would meet in this school. When I transferred here as a sophomore, everything was fresh to me. Excellent and outstanding academic environment make me fall in love with it. Teachers and students are so nice and feel free to help me get over many problems. Thankfully, there are various clubs and high-level courses that I can never join and take in my school in China, such as our Step Team club and my favorite AP Computer Science course. The things I learned here may help me quickly get use to different cultures and get prepared for my upcoming college life!

    The Montfort Academy

    • Mt. Vernon, NY
    • 8 reviews
High School Senior:My first year at The Montfort Academy in Katonah honestly surprised me in how much I loved the school. The school did not have the bells and whistles of any other established school but it was special. The people there were incredible in their giving-hearts and the warm welcomes they gave to literally anyone who entered the building. There were no cliques, no popular crowd, everyone was friends with everyone. Since moving down to Mount Vernon, the dynamic of the school changed dramatically, cliques slightly formed and certain people did not talk to other people. But, the activities became more official and organized. The school started becoming more like other schools. The first year was tough because Montfort merged with the recently closed school, Blessed Sacrament. The students from Blessed Sacrament were very different from current Montfort students, so the adjustment was tough. I did not initially like the change because the school I went to in Katonah was almost like a safe haven. In the past two years the administration has worked to make Montfort into what it was meant to be. Watching the change of the school in its transition over the past three years has taught me more than I would have ever learned if the school had only stayed in Katonah. Now the incoming classes have become much more competitive and selective. I was disappointed that I did not have the same experience as my older siblings, but I know I have gotten much more out of the school. Going to school at The Montfort Academy was extremely beneficial to my formation but it is not something that I would want to do over again. It has prepared me for the next stage of my life. I will miss it and the things I've learned will definitely affect the decisions I make for the rest of my life.
