I really enjoyed my high school experience. During my high school experience, I focused on activism to make sure that LGBTQ students had a safe learning environment. I also worked with my club advisor on putting together a proposal for my school district on hosting a district wide LGBTQ Competency Training. If it wasn't for the support of my high school principal and advisor, along with other staff, I may not have been able to get this approved. While focusing on advocacy work throughout my high school experience, I was able to maintain a 3.8 GPA, doing well in my classes due to the tutoring support offered by my high school. My high school experience also helped shape my decision for my college field of study: Sociology and Social Work. I am currently still in college, and I hope that this scholarship can help me continue my education, and further my goals of advocating for the LGBTQ Community and other minority groups.

As a sophomore, I have gotten to know the teachers and morale and I am happy to report that I love my school. I feel like I am being prepared for college and have the support of staff to have me on track for college. Every school has problems but I believe our school has an overall good student body. I can’t wait for next year!
Rancho Buena Vista High School gave me a memorable experience. Beginning early, in band camp in the school's esteemed marching/concert band program. On the first day of freshman year, I remember already being confident as I had friends and a safe place to go on campus. Teachers warmly greeted us and panned out how the year would go. As the year went by all of my teachers encouraged me as well as reached out to aid me if needed. The years from freshman year leading up to the final one I had made lifelong friends and discovered what my aspirations were. Because of the teachers on campus, I can confidently say that I have learned the skills I need to think independently and become a knowledgable person.
