Above and beyond experience from everyone we had contact with from the starting process of visiting schools - to the ending process of choosing Purcell Marian. A professional and courteous FAMILY like atmosphere were only a couple of the many things drawing us to become a part of the Cavalier family. And honestly, knowing my child can participate and find her "niche" all while being surrounded by caring, loving, and committed students and staff made this decision the easiest one we have ever made. TOGETHER!
Although I have only been with Purcell Marian a short time, I have nothing but admiration and praise for the school and staff! Throughout my time here I have witnessed impressive leadership, a strong community and a great deal of care for our students. If you are looking for a diverse community that values your child's personal and academic development, Purcell Marian would be a great fit for your child.
Having worked at Purcell Marian, I can say that if you are hoping to have a college-bound student, this is not the place to send them. The resources and low-level pacing of classes are much more suited for students who struggle academically, and are likely to pursue employment rather than college after high school. I think the teachers try their hardest, and certainly do the best they can with what they are given. But I find that it's often the blind leading the blind, and that true professional development opportunities are not available to teachers, nor are they wanted by the admin. The students are, of course wonderful, but I wish that there was more accountability for them. This is also a school that prioritizes sports above every other activity, and academics. So I find that athletes sometimes get preferential treatment simply due to the fact that they are athletes.
