It used to be so much better! The faculty and staff are rude to students, as well as verbally assault special education students. They do not take the opinions of students into consideration! Not to mention the promise of a building that will never be built and stuffing classes of 30 into portables and having student dance on the cafeteria floor. I am disappointed that I spent my high school years here. Do not send your kids!

I have attended The Public Academy for Performing Arts for seven years and it does not live up to the performance art aspect stated in the name, or when they present it to you before attending this school. Administration is very dismissive towards the concerns of the students. Dance is more supported than the other arts. I have taken multiple music classes and I still cannot read music. Bullying is not addressed. There is also unrealistic expectations expected from the students. The staff is also not honest with the students which causes the overall image of the school to suffer. As a student of color, there is no safe zone for me and others like me.
The Public Academy for Performing Arts was basically my dream school, the staff and administration are all very loving and caring people who are very compassionate and considerate. Of all my school years (6-12) I've never felt like I could've had a better environment, not only with schooling but it is a safe place. Not only the college prep was great but the fact that we had all these different opportunities in the arts was amazing.
