Providence Catholic High School Reviews
Rating 4.27 out of 5 184 reviews
Providence Catholic High School has excellent academics; their students significantly exceed the state averages in all of the standardized test scores. Their student to teacher ratio is 14:1, so every child receives an abundance of guidance and care. But it is the wonderful, loving atmosphere of this school that makes it truly amazing! There are no cliques; the students are so kind and supportive of each other. It seems too good to be true, until you meet the President of the school, Father John Merkelis. That's when you realize how lucky your child will be to attend Providence Catholic. Father "Merk" is a genuine disciple of Christ. The entire culture of his school is a reflection of this humble, exceptional servant of God.
If you want your child to have a growing education with encouraging counselors and teachers to help, Providence Catholic is the right school for you. With other college prep schools in the Chicagoland area, Providence offers several courses and clubs to help students prosper. The faculty and staff want the best for the children attending and create relationships that will last a lifetime. With all the schools I could have attended, I am blessed to be given the opportunity and ability to attend Providence Catholic.
Providence Catholic was a school my family looked to to shift my academic environment. In fact, it did just that. Transferring from a public high school to a private, college-preparatory school came with new responsibilities and a new rigorous curriculum. Providence Catholic has given me a new sense of confidence in my academic journey, and has made me more ready and excited for college than ever before. The teachers at school really care about the students, and it's nice to see the school come together as a family during the tough and great times. However, the transfer did come with another shift: a cultural shift. Being one of the few African-American and LGBTQ+ students in the building, I lacked a sense of belonging at times during my experience here. However, despite the bad, it has helped me become a stronger individual. Due to this, my overall experience is averaged at about 3 stars out of 5.
