From Propel McKeesport

"The purpose of education is to enable us to develop to the fullest that which is inside us." I firmly believe this quote sums up the goal of education in the heart of every educator. We all want to see every scholar tap into some great source of potential within. At Propel McKeesport, our goal is to arm scholars with the skills that will allow them to keep up with the pace of this rapidly changing and unpredictable world. My vision clearly stated is “education will provide all scholars with an equitable and excellent education that prepares them for college, career, and life.” I hope that this vision challenges all who are engaged in educating our scholars at Propel McKeesport and to ensure that the experiences of our children add significant value to their preparation for college, career, and life.

I am very happy with the education my son is receiving at Propel Mckeesport. I believe his teachers genuinely care about him. Last year when he was in first grade he got off the bus excited to tell me that his teacher (Ms. Regan) was an excellent football player and she was playing with he and his friends during recess. I was impressed that she took that time to interact with the kids rather than talking with other teachers the way my own elementary school teachers had. I do however, wish that there was more opportunities for parents to volunteer in the classroom. While we do have a "meet and greet" before school starts to learn of any new policies there is not currently an open house held early in the school year to see what your child has done and how he/she is adjusting to a new grade, new teachers, and a new classroom expectations. While I would like to see those changes made, I am happy to know my son goes to a school where the teachers make him feel like part of a family!

When we started in Kindergarten I was very happy with the school. the teachers were great, administration was great but over the years fast forward 7 years and my children are in the middle school section of the school and quite frankly they can't keep teachers, principals average 12-18 months at the longest and there are no programs for parent and family involvement. We start school Aug 19th and go until June 17th, 2020... way to long and after the PSSA'S are over there is very little learning that takes place. They teach to the test.
I went to this school from the time I was in kindergarten until I was in 8th grade. I loved it. In preschool I was struggling to learn basic things such as my vowels ans Abc’s. As soon as I went to Propel Mckeesport I learned them in a week.
