My rating has more to do with the atmosphere
The atmosphere at Propel Northside is more akin to a military school than a public school. The administration and teachers are hyper-focused on discipline, often to the detriment of academics (where the school seems to be failing across the board). Unfortunately, many of the teachers are in over their heads and clearly not up to the challenges of a racially mixed city school. There is a high turnover of teachers as well; it is not uncommon for a classroom to have 2-5 different teachers within a year. There is little to no communication between staff and parents, and on the rare occasion administration addresses parental concerns they do so in a dismissive and condescending manner. I think for many people there is a belief that Propel is a better alternative to their local public school, but I would caution prospective parents to really do their homework before sending their children to Propel.
