President William McKinley High School Reviews
Rating 3.73 out of 5 414 reviews
Having graduated from McKinley High School, my overall journey was truly remarkable. Over the course of my four years, I had the privilege of forming connections with numerous individuals, particularly upperclassmen during my freshman year. Throughout my time there, I was fortunate to never experience bullying; people treated me with genuine respect, even in cases where we were unfamiliar with each other. The educators were equally commendable, serving as mentors I could look up to whenever I encountered academic challenges. The sole drawback I encountered during my time at McKinley was witnessing certain students opting to skip their classes. This is an aspect I hope to see evolve within the school—emphasizing the importance of focusing on one's studies. It saddens me to observe fellow students veering off track by missing classes and potentially heading down an unproductive path.
After my high school experience at President William McKinley High School, I would rate it a 7/10 because there were good times; but, there were bad times. Some teachers genuinely cared about you, your education, your future and not just their paycheck. However, there were teachers who clearly only cared about doing the bare minimum for the paycheck. These teachers made high school feel like living hell. Something I wish to see change are those individuals. Go the extra mile to show and express to these kids that you care about them and aren’t here just for the paycheck.
In the start of my freshman year, McKinley was able to help me adjust from being a middle schooler to a high schooler through a program during the summer that also gave us a half credit for attending lectures and lessons for a few weeks. By the time it was the beginning of freshman year, I knew my way around the school, and could easily talk to teachers and councilors if I needed help. But, when COVID hit, it became a bit difficult asking for help online and getting the assistance to pass my classes. Now that I'm back to in-person schooling, being taught in a classroom, asking for support and talking to classmates and teachers is easier then before. There are many different classes to choose from, and the fact that McKinley splits it's many interests into 4 or 5 academies makes it easier to choose a career path. From my experience, I took a very high interest in Business and Industrial Engineering technology, that I decided those were two of the many fields I want to study.
