I loved my high school experience! I was involved with sports and band and I always had fun with my friends. Unfortunately I was never able to attend a school dance especially after COVID-19 changed everything, but I know that myself along with the rest of the class of 2021 remain unbothered because we can’t let that ruin our entire senior year. In my school, the biggest change I would like to see is the councilors being more involved with their students. I cannot speak for the other councilors, but my councilor specifically never helped me sign up for other college courses that I could have taken in advanced and she never spoke to me about behind on track for being valedictorian or anything like that. There had been a couple times where I requested to meet with her and she never called me up to her office. Overall I love the school and what they are doing.
I am currently a high school senior attending Porterville High School. As a freshman, walking into high school was terrifying. However, great staff, students, courses, clubs, activities, and sports made my overall high school experience great. The school offered dual enrollment college courses which allows me to finish many required general education college courses before I actually enter college. I also enjoyed playing sports and joining clubs which also gave me the opportunity to meet various people. Overall, Porterville High School provided an enjoyable high school experience.
The environment at Porterville High school was friendly and welcoming. I encountered several students who were determined and radiated such positive energy. It was easy to get involved and explore new opportunities to grow and expand knowledge from experience. I was enrolled in a pathway that assists students in their career. My pathway revolved around health science and medical services. This pathway helped me entirely in so many ways as I am majoring in Biology. Not to mention, teachers were highly encouraging and helpful to guarantee students' success in the future. They reassured us we always had their help to consider if we find ourselves struggling or need any help at all. Not only did they improve my learning but my confidence as well. Thanks to their support, I now feel like I am indeed capable of accomplishing anything I set my mind to. I am forever grateful for my pleasant experience with Porterville High School because it helped shape me into the student I am now.
