Very whitewashed, basic classes and unwelcoming environment. Good sports and clubs. Good food and counselling available. The teachers don't seem to really care about your wellbeing and whether you pass or not, they mostly seem like they just want to get paid. Pretty racist student body as well, they mostly consist of red necks and rude people. The facilities are also very outdated, air conditioning and heating don't work, there is very little security and most of the school funding goes to football and cheerleading even though its the academics and arts programs that truly need it. In fact, the building itself could really use the funding. Administration is very strict and sexist. Only the girls get dress coded and are frequently sexualized. Admin doesn't allow for anything fun and most events are highly supervised. Prom sucked and so did everything else, it was a horrible experience and covid made it worse.

I love the family feel that both Ponderosa students, and faculty members share. It is very obvious that teachers truly care about the subjects that they teach and that they want every student to succeed. The teachers all take their jobs seriously while still making the subjects as fun and interesting as possible for each and every student.

This is my fourth year at Ponderosa and I have enjoyed being a part of the mustang community. Participation in sporting events is a big part of the mustang experience, and there is always a large crowd of parents, siblings, staff members, and students present. Ponderosa is very spirited and has managed to find a way to include students through a large variety of clubs. They even let students create their own clubs if the students feel they don't have a place to fit in.

From my experience as a student at Ponderosa High School, there were pros and cons to everything. To look at the pros, some of the teachers were fantastic and wanted to watch students learn and succeed within high school and the sports/theater programs were very supported. On the cons side, the school counselors don't really help with post-grad situations as they just sit you down and ask a couple of questions and sent you on your way. Some of the teachers were hateful towards students and just had the job to have the breaks that are paid for over the course of several weeks. The school recently got a grant of $1 million to renovate the school. Instead of fixing the restrooms, AC, and new appliances for the art classroom that are hazardous, they bought brand new carpet for the entire school (in which they were strict on students eating throughout the school but once it snowed, the carpet was covered in mud). Take what you will with the review but this was my experience.
