I have been a Pond Creek-Hunter student my entire life. There are many pros to this school, things like individuality and one on one help. However, this school does have its cons also. Pond Creek hasn't experienced much with racism/ oppression to other races/ LGBTQ+ community. This school also isn't very diverse in many ways. Although, Pond Creek is one of the best schools in the county when it comes to sports. While Pond Creek could use a little work on things, it is still one of the best things that has ever happened to me, and I wouldn't be the same person I am today without the faculty and staff.
I like the fact that my teachers care whether or not I succeed, as well as if others succeed. When a student needs help and the teacher can't seem to explain it, no matter how hard they try (very hard), the teacher asks a student to explain it to them. This has worked many times, and I like that the teachers have enough trust in us to know how to teach it to each other most of the time. There is just one teacher, and I'm not going to name names, who can't seem to properly educate anybody, as the students must turn to the internet and YouTube for help every step of the way. That teacher is really one of the only problems that I, and many other students and alumni, have with this school. The rest of it is pretty great.
This school is progressive and incorporates personalized education, which allows students to work on-pace or work ahead of pace depending on the individual students’ needs and desires. This allows students to take online courses, college courses (which are largely reimbursed), complete work-study, or graduate early.
