Pompano Beach High is unique in it's devotion to cultural inclusiveness and appreciation, something that is very important to me in a school. From exchange student opportunities to cultural celebrations every month, there are so many opportunities to develop a global vision. Additionally, the programs and teachers are dedicated to see students succeed, offering several afterschool tutoring programs and unlimited resources to broaden your horizon. The staff and students are there to help you, and are constantly waving and smiling, creating such a positive atmosphere to learn in. The only downside is that there are several clubs, such as Model UN and DECA, that are not currently in place. It can be difficult to begin a club, especially finding advisors and members, but the existing clubs are truly amazing and a great way to meet new people. Overall, Pompano takes every student's needs into consideration with each educational and social aspect, so I'm glad I get to call myself an alumni!
Pompano Beach is a good school with many amazing aspects. The school's vast international connections brings a great experience that students never forget. The opportunity to speak with all these people who live in different countries during the foreign exchange period was eye-opening and fascinating. You get to learn about the differences in the every day lives of people from all around the world, and make unforgettable connections. Moving away from the social aspect though, Pompano provides an extremely thorough and rigorous education - hence their 100% graduation rate. However, the rigor can be too much at times and be detrimental to the students. Overall, we as Pompano students are provided a wonderful student experience, both socially, and educationally. My time as a Pompano student is not one I will regret, or soon forget.
I am a current student at Pompano Beach High School and my past 3 years have been amazing academically. Most teachers care a lot about their students and wish for their success. Administration and students however need to change. The students that attend Pompano Beach High School are often times racist and homophobic. Administration attempts to "handle" these students, but ultimately it seems as though they are let off the hook. I believe that PBHS could be better if these students were handled appropriately and administration did more to spread positive ideals. If you can somehow avoid the majority of students who have skewed ideals then PBHS is not that bad.
