Pocono Mountain West HS focuses on bettering the students and providing all with an opportunity to pursue any careers in the future no matter their background or financial situations. Pocono Mountain West HS is built on PRIDE - Prepared, Respectful, Involved, Dependable, and Empathetic to all students. The everyday routine of the school follows PRIDE and encourages students to do the same. What I liked while attending PMWHS was the endless opportunities to pursue an interest. For instance, their MCTI program offered many different career classes such as Culinary and Carpentry providing students with first hand experience. However, I would like to see their policies and rules change. PMWHS promotes diversity and should allow their students to express themselves.
Being a current student at the West High school you experience a lot of different situations, from the typical rumor, to the endless drama and the fights. Like most schools there is a toxicity that plagues the different people in the school like the jealous, insecure, selfish people that are deemed 'popular'. Overall the school has a seemingly endless amount of different after-school activities for all students to get involved with whether it be sports or an artistic activity. The academics of the school are above average compared to some of the other schools in our area, but like most things the students can only be as good and achieve as much as they apply themselves towards. There are a multitude of teachers that push their students to see their full potential and help those in need to seek the right help to increase their success rate.
Pocono Mountain West High School was a very diverse school, which I loved. They had many clubs and sports to fulfill your interests. Their academics were challenging if placed in the correct level class. Most teachers cared about your success and prepared you for college. Most counselors were very helpful regarding college applications and other problems you had. Overall, my experience with Pocono Mountain West High School was good!
