I have been in the Pleasantville School District for the entirety of my life. Nice neighborhood and I have always felt privileged that my parents gave me the opportunity to live in this area, as they grew up very different than me. At my sister's graduation a couple of years ago I had a realization about the district. Every one of their students is cared for. Being that it is a very small district, every student has the chance to shine. This comes with its perks but also its disadvantages. Everyone has been a winner, so everyone doesn't know what it feels like to be small. It is not the district's fault, but as I see students graduating through the year I came to realize that a lot have a hard time adjusting to bigger schools and being a little fish in a big pond. We aren't as well adjusted and we do live in a bubble of privilege. I have loved every experience, but when I look big picture there is some concern for myself and my classmates.
Small school district with lots of class choices, whether you like the arts, stem or creative writing etc. Parents are very involved in our small town and the school musical is a big production with over half the students involved in some way. Very focused on college readiness and the teachers and counselors help us with the process. They now have a tech for all initiative so everyone has a laptop in the younger grades.
Pleasantville High school is very dedicated to the individual students by giving them a home away from home. They treat you as individuals, yet, as part of a community. They view academics very highly and integrate sports and other extracurriculars into daily conversation and class discussion to get students involved.
