I was in the International Baccaulareate program. Most of the time, the teachers were unprepared and very lazy. Most learning comes from worksheets that can be easily found online. Food is awful. I have found plastic, hair, pieces of cloth and expired produce

Lastly, Plano East is known for having out dated text books. What I mean by outdated is that we usually have textbooks from around 2005 to 2008. No student in any class should be given a more then 4 year old textbook because the language is constantly changing. For me, I have a 2010 Chinese textbook! That means that the book was probably written in 2008 to 2009 and that the language used in the book is over 10 years old! Not wise.

Plano East Senior High School is a very diverse school, with many resources for its students to succeed academically. It houses the IB program, a Health Sciences program, and plenty of AP courses. Unfortunately, as with many schools, there are serious issues. Many students attending Plano East have taken their own lives over the last 5 years. Clearly the school is not making enough of an effort to support their students emotionally. That is very difficult to accomplish when administrators do not even believe in mental illness. I have personally attempted on various occasions to complete a sort of mental health awareness initiative as part of my duty in the student senate, and was met with plenty of friction from our administrators. They are comfortable with inaction, which does not benefit the students. Plano East has a great academic and athletic program, but does not sufficiently care for its students.
In my tenure at Plano East, I was mostly satisfied with my learning environment. My classes were challenging because my teachers cared about the students and were willing to help further our education. However, Plano East lacks diversity and acceptance of others. Although the student body is consisted of various students from different ethnic backgrounds, there is a lack of recognition and awareness for those who identify themselves under a different sexual orientation or religion. For future generation of Plano East Panthers, I would like to see a more diverse group of students and staff that show kindness and acceptance of any individual regardless of their appearance, beliefs, or orientation.
