What I really loved about Plainfield North High School was the hands-on engaged learning there throughout my four years. My teachers really understood me as a student, they understood my strengths and weaknesses and they really were determined to get me in the direction I wanted to go in which was attending a four-year college/university. What I also found very helpful was that teachers were willing to help me anytime, whether it was getting help from them after school or offering extra practice homework to me which i found very beneficial because it helped an area of study come clear to me and made me a better thinker. I without a doubt feel that high school will prepare me for my future ahead and my teachers have done an extraordinary job in preparing me for the life I want to live. The friends I've gotten throughout my high school experience have done a wonderful job as well, They have given me the inspiration to put my mind to anything which I choose to do.
This school offers amazing courses that varies in each department. They offer many Ap courses, lots of art classes, and a lot of courses that vary in difficulty & there are many opportunities that adapt to what you want for your education. For example, they provide students the opportunity to get a head start in their math and foreign language career in middle school and allow you to skip courses for a more difficult one if you are capable to do so. The teachers are 50/50. Many teachers are amazing, educated, and connect with their students, but some cannot teach well. However, there are not many events, school, spirit, social programs, and etc throughout the year which makes having a social life in school & enjoying school very difficult. There is only one school dance, homecoming, and even homecoming week is not enjoyable. I would like to see more of a balance between social and academics here at Plainfield North.
This will be my son’s Senior year and I can honestly say it’s gone by way too fast. He’s had a great experience at PNHS. Most of the Teachers are terrific and are always willing to assist when students fall behind or need extra help. My Son’s Counselor has been wonderful advising him on which classes to take that will challenge him but not overwhelm him. The Principal and administrative team treat the students with respect and are very involved. They also encourage Parents to be involved in their Child’s education as well as providing guidence on college readiness. They have a lot of activities for the kids to be involved in from various clubs to sports, as well at performing arts and marching band. Overall excellent school!
