Beautiful campus, excellent teachers, great athletics. This school has so many opportunities for students. The teachers connect with you on a personal level and genuinely care for their students. There are many AP and Dual Enrollment classes you can choose from. Extracurricular activites are highly encouraged here. Almost everyone participates in school spirit. Counselors prepare you as much as possible for after high school. College prep is taken very seriously here. If college is not the path for you, teachers and counselors show you other ways to be successful in life. There is a fantastic FFA program here. Open campus lunches. Mental health awareness is very prevalent. Beautiful, brand new, turf field.
I love Placer High School. I recently graduated from there and I think it was a great high school experience. There a lot of AP and honors courses as well as lower levels and intervention classes so everyone has a place at this school and are able to learn effectively. Besides the academics, Placer has so much character and spirit from the historical buildings to the rallies and football games that attracts everyone in town on a Friday night. I also loved that it was an open campus and students are allowed to go into town to local restaurants at lunch. I think this builds character and societal skills for not only the students but the town as well. And lastly, the teachers at Placer are great and there are so many electives available to take from ceramics, woodworking and welding, to marine biology, anatomy and philology, and advanced calculus. Placer was a great high school experience and a big part of who Auburn's is.
Placer High School is a very average school that has the potential to be excellent if a bit more effort was put into making it better. A majority of the teachers are very charismatic and helpful. However, due to a lack of proper staffing some teachers have been placed into departments, that they do not quite have a grasp on and/or are unqualified to teach. On another note, a large portion of the school's budget is used frivolously. Recently the school purchased an extremely expensive astroturf and water dispensary machine for the office. These ideas would be less ridiculous if other parts of the school had not been severely neglected. Leaky roofs, undersupplied/underfunded departments (art, drama, music, etc), outdated material, broken/old chairs, and desks. To summarize the rest of the school suffers while the football department and office workers live in luxury. The monetary spotlight needs to be shone elsewhere for a bit because this school seems to be falling apart at the seams.
