High school is a challenge. Though academics are hard, I found it more difficult to find motivation to complete assignments for anything I wasn’t interested in.
That’s something I hate about high school. I hate doing research on topics that are mundane and boring. I hate feeling the pressure of deadlines for things that I will never think about again after that deadline. I would just tell myself, “I’ll start tomorrow.”
But that’s also something I love. School helped me break out of that mindset. That mindset hurt my grades, my pride, and my academics too much to continue. So, I made a change. Not only in school but in my personal life. In each project I find boring, I look for something interesting within it. I find motivation not because of that deadline but because of my dreams to pursue a higher education and an effort to improve my life. Thanks to school, I found the energy to make this change.

My time at Pittsford Sutherland High School had been filled with both negative and positive experiences. Sutherland offers a vast amount of opportunities for any interest. During my time at Sutherland I have been involved with many art classes, the track and field team, as well as the cross country team, all of which have provided me with many life lessons and good friends. However, before I joined the team I experienced many difficulties when it came to making friends. Because of the large size of the school, it is very difficult to meet people especially when all of your classes are with mainly the same classmates. When I moved to Pittsford in 7th grade it took me many months to find one good friend. Sutherland high school has been a very good school and has provided me with many opportunities, however it can be very difficult to reach out and connect with new people.
Throughout my time here at Sutherland I have grown and developed many skills. My experience here has been bettered through the athletic programs at this school which allow for socializing and allow you to make new friends. In addition, I have met a large number of incredible teachers who are devoted in helping their students genuinely learn, understand, and prepare for the future. I would like to see less cliques and more inclusivity for everybody, as well as better school spirit.
