My experience at Piner High School has been great. The students are kind and get along well. The teachers do a great job in teaching their subjects in a way students can learn and understand. There are many programs in that can help you go into a future career path such as Health, Science, and Biotechnology (HSB) 3 year pathway elective. Piner is also of the STEM program. There is a Planetarium and Observatory on campus students can use for certain projects. One thing that can change for the better at Piner is the involvement of students and parents. Recently the school has set up activities in which students participated in. Overall Piner High School is a diverse and resourceful community!
It is a good school, I took college level classes and it really taught me a lot. The reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the administration and teachers did nothing to help us when I was taking AP Lang Junior year, our teacher quit after just a week of teaching us and then every day after that there was different substitutes who had no idea what to do. I went in to that class hoping to be able to write a good essay and came out with no knowledge of anything. The school finally found a replacement who was qualified towards the end of the year, which if you take AP test, you know it’s not enough time to learn anything. It seems as though towards the end of the year we were barely learning what we needed to know the first week of class. The administration really needs to do better since the kids that take AP classes are usually the ones that actually want to learn and want to help boost their applications for college.
Overall the school itself is a great campus. It's a large campus for a high school, however, it is an appealing campus. There are some times that may make it seem like a school in which it is disorganized and doesn't care for the students, however, it is a school where some teachers who shouldn't be teachers may be hired and students may not be the most respectful. Some of the on-campus advisors are one of a kind, one older gentleman named Juan is like a grandfather to the students and he gets along with everyone. There are also teachers who might be more or less alike who will attempt to help students and get along with everyone as well. Overall the school itself is quite nice, however there may be some areas such as staff and the respect both students and teachers can work on, but that'll come with time.
