Piedmont High School is a school that prioritizes the education of life skills and health of students instead of test scores that are compared against other schools. The teachers and administration care very deeply about each individual student in the school. This provides students with feelings of security and confidence in their education by knowing they have people to help them along their journey in high school. Throughout the adventure of a student's years at PHS, they are supported and led to do everything possible to best prepare them for college by providing them with the life skills and academic knowledge they need most to thrive! Two significant downfalls of Piedmont High School are the low diversity percentage and very apparent bullying. Staff doesn't recognize when something's wrong, and in addition to that, they sweep every negative statement or claim said by a student, instead of bettering the school and creating a more positive and welcoming environment!
The school is good for completely general credits but lacks advanced credits and life skill classes. Most teachers are mediocre with a very little amount of really good teachers. I believe this is a fair assessment of this school because of many reasons. Firstly, the graduation requirements are too basic, and the valedictorian requirements are way too easy. In fact, in my grade alone, we have 34 valedictorians out of 300 students. Secondly, the school does not have great teacher relations either. After interviewing many teachers, almost all agree that they are last to be notified about anything school-policy-related. Students and parents are notified before teachers, which is unacceptable. Teachers are part of the faculty at the school, and should be treated with dignity, not disrespect.
Piedmont High School has been very good to me. I have met many genuine classmates and teachers while I have been attending school. I have been lucky enough to surround myself with a nice group of friends who are kind and support me through all things. My teachers over the last few years have played a huge role in my success in high school. They have given me confidence in my work while also giving me any extra assistance I might need. My teachers have never made me feel embarrassed to be asking for help, but confident that I am understanding what they are teaching me. I believe Piedmont has given me a good foundation in academics and study habits to make me confident and feeling prepared for my future in college.
