It’s overall a great school. All of the teachers are cool and ready to help you with anything. I appreciate all of the staff, such as the counselors, they are all very helpful as well. There are a lot of different type of students that apply to the school and they are all great to learn about. The food is regular like any other food, but the art aspect of this school is amazing, it’s been number 1 in the state a couple of times for a reason!
First and foremost, the student body is amazing. Everyone is super talented and interesting, and because we’re all art kids, the vast majority of us are super nice. One thing in particular that I love is that everyone dresses so differently and is not afraid to dress how they want to. Everyday I see people in sweatpants and a T-shirt, in dresses, in full goth, in the gayest outfits ever, and also a bunch of people cross-dressing, which has been such a welcoming and pleasant atmosphere since the day I walked in. I also really like that we’re on the block schedule, meaning students have 4 90-minute class periods each day, and get new classes at the beginning of the second semester. This means that students take 8 classes every year, which is more than most other high schools. My biggest complaint is that since we’re a small school, we have limited academic classes, especially for foreign language. This is balanced out with lots of tremendous arts classes, but is a challenge nonetheless.
I am currently a Junior at this school, meaning I have not completed my academic career here. With that being said, I am enjoying my time here so far. An overwhelming majority of the teachers are incredibly helpful, kind, and care about the future of their students. AP classes are offered and encouraged. The staff to student ratio is ideal, ensuring every child gets tended to. There's MANY academic resources provided here and extracurriculars, such as Service Learning, virtual college tours, the NHS, the NAHS, a surplus of clubs, contests, and much more. The website for this school is also well-organized and easy to navigate, making it user-friendly to everyone. Parents are highly encouraged to stay involved in the school and student's life. The only thing that prevents me from giving 5/5 stars are the food and infrastructure. Though I have never tasted the food myself, it looks like your typical school lunch. The building is long overdue for a renovation and appears worn down.
