Peoria Notre Dame High School Reviews
Rating 3.93 out of 5 158 reviews
The academics at Peoria Notre Dame High School are excellent! There are many advanced courses and programs that allow students to go above and beyond with their academic endeavors. My biggest struggle at PND, however, was the social aspect of it—there is A LOT of student bias from teachers which may make many students who have no previous connection to the school feel unheard, unseen, or unappreciated in general (myself being one of those students). You can certainly distinguish teachers who will put in their effort to make class a positively enriching experience, and those who will do what appears to be the bare minimum just to pass time (yes, I have experienced both types of teachers). One thing I did not appreciate during my time at PND was the lack of organization with the administration—follow-ups on mandatory college requirements for seniors needed to be worked on, however, it wasn’t until my senior year (this past year) that I received immense college help from a new counselor.
Peoria Notre Dame High School was where I spent a majority of my teen years outside of my home. There were many great things that came out of that experience. I made many friends and had the opportunity for great experiences. That being said, there are some things that were not so great. The school had a tendency to be very strict when it came to acting a certain way. If disobeyed, the entire class and/ or school were spoken to about it. I understand how certain rules need to be enforced; however, things like posture in mass and attendance during free period assemblies should not be enforced as rigorously as they were.
Peoria Notre Dame is an academically outstanding school. They help prepare you for the future- academically and socially. They have a variety of classes and programs depending on the field you would like to take. Socially and administrally, they aren't outstanding. A plentiful of bullying and social degrading goes on. The school is built on ego and money. If you're not white, rich, or outstanding at a certain sport, you're an outlier. The issue is, the school knows this goes on and they don't enforce rules to help prevent it. But in terms of education, Peoria Notre Dame is top tier.
