I enjoyed the academics of Pensacola High School due to the IB program. However, besides that the school was dreadful to go to. The school spends and allocates money in very poor places. The school purchased large LCD TVs that were placed in the hallways that display random useless pictures but we could not fix a sewage buildup that had a pungent smell that plagued the hallways for months. PHS has excellent academics and was rated one of the hardest public schools in America with students being accepted to some of the most prestigious universities in the country but our high school experience is very bleak because there is an absence of school spirit. The Washington Post ranked 23-hundred schools in its list of 'America's Most Challenging High Schools' and Pensacola High is the only Northwest Florida school in the top 200, however, the school's foundation is built upon the desires of the administrators and student life, as a result, is diminished.

Pensacola High School has been a very inviting school and has prepared me for my future. I am part of the IB program that is at Pensacola High School, and the faculty and staff involved in the IB program care about each individual student. I would recommend Pensacola High School and the IB program to any student willing to pursue their academics through a rigorous course. The school has been recently improving their facilities and amenities with new doors, lights, and even televisions. This improves the schools overall rating as it is evident that the staff at Pensacola High School is making sure the students are having a great overall experience.
The IB program was one of the best decisions I could have made, but the administration of the school was more than disappointing. The hiring of unqualified instructors for the IB program was a big issue. Also, the administration only seemed to be concerned with a major legal issue I had with the school when they weren't sure if I was going to involve them or not. Once they knew I wasn't going to sue them, it was swept under the rug and not brought up again. However, the teachers are great, and the environment has been relatively pleasant in my four years here.
