From Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School

Cyber Schools follow an instructional model that’s similar to home schooling, without the responsibility of purchasing curriculum and designing lessons. Students are required to log attendance every day, submit assignments, attend online live lessons and complete the state mandatory testing. Using different types of online programs, students receive their education through an electronic device and the internet.

PA Leadership Charter School opened its doors in 2004 and has been growing steadily every year; it now educates over 2600 students across Pennsylvania.

This is my second year attending Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School and I could not be happier with the amount of support my teachers and counselors have provided me with. Not only has PALCS provided me with an inspiring environment to study and to learn, but it also has taught me the importance of leadership in group settings throughout everyday life. In the future, I hope PALCS continues to offer the same learning experiences and aid to students entering high school, struggling through course material, or applying to colleges. Thanks to PALCS, I am on the road to success with an advanced education that will enable me to perform to the best of my ability at a university!

My 9th grade daughter is just completing her 1st yr. It has been wonderful. The academics are on par or better than our high achieving suburban brick and mortar. They took the time to evaluate and place her well and so she has been accelerated in some classes, as well as being enrolled in the University Scholar's Cyber Program. The teachers are fabulous and are much more accessible than teachers at the brick and mortar. Getting developmentally appropriate sleep, working at your own pace, and being able to eat and use the bathroom when you need to go a long way to ease stress, anxiety, and depression which is at a very high level in our local school. Would like to see her have more connections to fellow students though. She attends clubs at the local school and that is great. However, would be nice if cyber schools and brick and mortar schools partnered the way votech schools did instead of competed. All and all PALCS has been a great experience. Wish we transferred her sooner!
I had a great experience at PALCS! The school offers a wide variety of classes that were not offered in my school district. Taking classes online allowed me to gain a sense of independence. I graduated in 2013 and felt extremely well-prepared for college. I am now in graduate school at Thomas Jefferson University working towards my master's degree. I feel that my education at PALCS laid the foundation for my university education and career.
