Pennoyer Elementary School Reviews

This school is nothing special. Basically moved into this area for Maine South High School and Pennoyer is the grammar school for this area. Administration and the school board are focused on raising taxes and passing referrendums to rebuild parts of the school rather than keeping up the facilities like homeowners in the area must do. There is too much focus on the "littlest learners" (pre-k kids) at the expense of the k-8 kids. Rigor and enrichment do not exist in this school (only exception is math in 8th grade where students can take Maine South's math class at Pennoyer). Most "learning" is done with the use of an ipad or chrome book rather than through true teaching by competent and experienced teachers. Seems like all the administration hires these days are new teachers to save money on salary. Really feel that the administration and board are out of touch with what this community needs and wants.

We love the curriculum, teachers and administration at our school district. The building needs improvement, it was built in the mid 1950's.
Very good school, great teachers and administration. Building is old and needs improvement. Great community to live in.
