Penn High School is a great high school for many reasons. It is in a great, safe location. It is a big school, but not too big where you feel like you don't matter. There are lots of counselors so all students can have a good individual experience. Although there is always exceptions, most teachers are very helpful and are there to look out for you. Since it is a big, well funded school, it is a clean, has good bathrooms, cafeteria, food, and sports facilities. One thing I would change is the school spirit or the fun aspect of the school. People go to sports game, although mainly only football. But there are no pep rallies and when there's spirit weeks no one does it. So I wish administration, and students also, would take more part in school spirit so it could be more fun than just going to school.
I have had both good and negative experiences while at Penn. My freshman and sophomore year at Penn I was in their Early College program. I struggled with this program because I didn’t feel that the teachers were actually teaching us at a college level. I also had a teacher that wasn’t appropriate in the way she addressed the class. After my sophomore year I didn’t feel like the program was actually helping me with my career goals so I decided to leave the program and join the regular high school. Here I felt that my honors and AP teacher were just more involved with their students and had more of a passion for us to succeed. I also learned my Junior year that I had late on set ADHD. I have worked with my psychiatrist very closely to learn techniques to help me with my academic career.
It was a decent high school experience. Sports are prioritized over any other extracurricular. The arts are greatly underfunded at this school and can only afford to do what they do with parent and alumni donations.
Penn high school offers many opportunities for high-achieving students. The classes for honors students that I have encountered have been diverse and well-rounded. There are countless incredible teachers ready to help educate the next generation.
I have had a great experience so far as of my Junior year! There's always drama wherever you turn but I've managed to worm my way out of that!
My experience was average, there were some bad moments and some good moments. The school is not wheelchair friendly as door jams are lifted and there is a singular elevator to access the entirety of the large school's upper floor plan. Overall, most of the teachers are excellent teachers and offer ample times to give help and there are quite a few opportunities to join clubs and extra curricular activities.
My personal experience at Penn High School has been great, I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities I've been given to meet my peers, help out my community, and grow as a person. I've also been very pleased with how qualified every staff member is, I feel like they all care and have done a great job of teaching me. Personally, the only issue I've really had is poor communication through the Guidance Counselors. Not only between themselves but also between them and the students.
Overall was a great experience. Lots of clubs and options to get ahead. I never really had any issues with teachers and staff was always super helpful and friendly.
Penn High School has been a very rewarding school to attend. They offer so many different classes to fit a variety of interests and are able to cater to a wide range of different learning abilities that have helped me be able to stay on a path that is best suited for me. They try their best to be inclusive and make sure everyone feels safe, but sometimes students aren't always the nicest but that's what high schoolers are like. Penn is always very involved in the community and wants to make the town a better place and gives endless opportunities for students to get involved in their community. Overall I feel very lucky to have been able to grow up in the area of Penn Harris Madison School cooperation and go to their schools.
There are lots of opportunities for all different phases and cultures. They help out all different types of people whether they are on a straight path or whether they are struggling a bit to stay on track they take the time to help everyone.
My experience at Penn High School was a test of perseverance. The overall atmosphere there forced me to adopt a strong determination to learn and press forward. From the staff to the students, they all sought bright futures and proved that within the classrooms. It felt as if each person was always striving for perfection because the stereotypical slacker mentality was rarely evident. I believe that is because through the community established there we came to be our own advocates. My experience there was a beautiful one because it's where I learned my self worth. Self respect has been a pressing issue my whole life and because Penn High School had such a high intensity environment, I didn't have time to worry about many of my own issues. For success I needed to overcome it all, and I did. While mental health at Penn High school is recognized and supported, it was critical I overlooked myself to become more of myself. That is why my experience there molded me to have perseverance.
I had an amazing experience at Penn High School. I haven't experienced any other school that had such a diverse array of classes and clubs to participate in. The school was also one of the safest I've been in, taking necessary precautions to avoid people getting sick, harmed, or any such injuries. The school also had one of the best communities I've ever seen; teachers were great at connecting with and educating their pupils, families were actively involved in school activities and their child's education, and the administration was very helpful during my experience here, providing information and access to sites that helped with college applications, readiness, and more. I believe this is one of the top schools in our state, if not our country.
Penn High School is located in Mishawaka Indiana. It is an amazing school with hundreds of class options and more electives then most other schools. The teachers are so kind and focused on the students success. They have many sport programs such as football, cheer, basketball, golf, lacrosse, and rugby just to name a few. Lunches here are amazing with about 4 line options all having different types of food ! If I were to give Penn High School a letter grade it would receive an "A".
This school really helps you excel. There isn’t as many opportunities as you’d hope to be, but still a good amount
I’m currently a junior at penn, I would say my overall experience has been okay. There are some great teachers, but let me tell you that school does not like anything getting out to the public. They will do whatever they can to suppress a problem. They more so put a band aid on the problem rather than fix it. Relationships with teachers are pretty good for the most part but it’s honestly better than most school in the area!
Penn is a very diverse and academically successful high school. It's one of the largest schools in Indiana which provides students with many opportunities. As we are in a pandemic the second half and all of my senior year have been taken from me and I wish my high school did more for me. They haven't done much for our seniors this year during this rough patch.
Penn High School has been a really great experience for me. After moving from a small school to a school twice it's size, I was sure I was going to have a really hard time. When I struggled I talked to the teachers and they were all sympathetic. For the first year, they did such a good job of making me feel a part of this school. When the first Covid lockdown started they did a really good job of switching the way to learn and providing students with lots of resources they could use.
