Having attended PHS every day for the past four years, I have learned to see what a great sense of community it emits. Since my freshman year, I have always admired Penfield for having teachers- a student’s prime motivation in learning- who value connecting with their students as much as they value the subject that they teach. In addition to its admirable environment, PHS offers near the greatest number of AP and dual credit courses to high school students. For example, it is one of three schools to offer Calc III at the high school itself whereas a student would otherwise have to attend the local community college if they wished to receive those credits. Recreationally, Penfield offers around 61 clubs and sports that students of any grade can get involved in. The administration is also open to considering new clubs or sports that are suggested by students. Hand-Ball Tennis, for instance, is a student-introduced sport that is in the process of being made into a local league.

Glows- Most teachers are so friendly and they like to stay after with students for help. All of the teachers, and administrative staff, are so supportive of students and they are invested in making sure every student receives a great education and accomplishes their goals. The students at my school are accepting of one's differences and hardly ever discriminate against another student. PHS is an environment that makes one want to come to school again and prepares the students to look forward to learning.
Grows- Some teachers are not flexible with late work. In my junior year, I was severely sick and I was missing assignments that I had to make up for math. I stayed after and tried as hard as I could to understand the material, but she was not forgiving and docked me points
My experience at PHS has been nothing but great, the teachers there don’t just go through the motions. They love there job and want to see students apply themselves and have success. They are there for the students and challenge us to explore further in our learning. One change would be putting a bigger emphasis on important dates and announcements.
