When do you find teachers that are willing to stay after school hours to privately tutor your child because he/she needs extra help? At Pearls, my child's teacher would stay after hours to help the struggling students get the one-on-one attention they needed to keep up with the rest of the school. Teachers that care this much are what make the school amazing.

My biggest concern is the safety of the school. There seem to be lots of bullies, even with anti-bully campaigns run by the school, the bullies still pick on the smaller children. Not all the buses are monitored, if there isn't a monitor on your child's bus I'd caution sending them on it. It's not safe for younger kids to be on the same bus as the big bullies. Also, communication from the school about threats that have been made to the school is poor. Parent's hear the news thru the grapevine days after a threat has been made.

PEARLS will always be where I had my start in an education. However, there is a lot of tea to be spilled about the school. For example, our potential school shooting by a middle school student or our constant problems with 7th and 8th graders in general. The facilities are slightly below average in that the gym roof leaks when it rains and that there is not any air conditioning. A lot of the older students have mental health issues from stress and being over worked with multiple test in projects due in a close proximity of each other . I feel we only teach for the tests and very few teachers are truly engaging for whole lessons. PEARLS is not the best environment for everyone socialy as we judge quite harshly. But you will be very ready and prepared for high school and college.
I love this school so much. The only thing was kinder garden- 3rd grade art teacher. She was an old frustrated lady who was fired from her other job a year prior to working at PEARLS. She made my life MISERABLE. There was this one time where it was free time and I drew myself and she drew a big X on my paper. Another time it was Valentines Day, and she told us "Never draw hearts on Valentines Day. It's about DEATH not love." I'm very satisfied with my new art teacher Mrs. McCann.I love her and she helped me enhance my knowledge on art what goes into it.
