Pearl City High School has the potential to be one of the best high schools in the state. However, throughout my four years of being a student there, I've had a less than pleasant experience. For one, the teachers hired are often unprofessional or unreliable. Some teachers are unwilling to help students succeed, and become frustrated when asked for help. The rest of the staff often undervalues and do not appreciate other teachers, several teachers have left on account of feeling unsatisfied and wanting a better job. Pearl City High School is often unclean, and the students are childish, violent, and rowdy. If not for the few faculty and staff members that made my experience as a student here enjoyable, I would have given it a lower rating.

Pearl CIty High School has a good program helping kids transition from high school to college. We have programs of study that we are put in during freshman year and we do courses that correspond with our careers. For example, if I want to become a teacher, they would put me in the public human services pathway along with courses that I have to take as I move on from each grade level. This is the same for anyone in the medical, engineering, business and other pathways. They give us a lot of opportunities to visit college campuses, and different college credits if we apply ourselves. They also try their hardest for us to enjoy coming to school by giving us spirit weeks and activities every month during lunch times along with fun assemblies.
My experience at Pearl City High School was very different compared to my experiences at my middle school, coming from a different town. The school's atmosphere was very judgmental, and didn't really seem family oriented. We had a school riot that had made the news my freshman year. It felt like a bunch of untamed animals running around looking for anyone to fight! Even if they never saw them in their life before. The school I came from before that, was very family oriented, and looked out for one another. So it was a real wake up call for me, that not everyone is gonna have your back, even some friends I had weren't real. But overall, the teachers were amazing, as a lot of them I created bonds with, and still keep in contact today.
