I love this school. My children have thrived here. I actully dread the day when they have to change schools. The faculty truly cares about and wants the best for every student. They will bend over backwards to help any child. There aren't many cliques or real bullying problems. The teachers love the school. Staff turnover is very low. The only disadvantage here is that it's small. Well, small class sizes are an advantage but the disadvantage is that there's not as many specialty classes, like music or drama club and the kids eventually have to transfer after 8th grade. I wish there was a high school here. that would be wonderful!

This is a small school for grades K-8, so it doesn't have some of the facilities a larger school or high school might have. It has a small gym for PE and basketball games. The gym is well maintained. There is a softball/baseball field at the town park and a football field at the town park, but those are not maintained by the school. They are within walking distance. Parkside has a decent playground for elementary students to use during their PE time and a small one for kindergarten students to use during their afternoon recess.

A lot of students are involved in basketball at school. Parents and teachers support the teams, and there is a lot of pride in the sports teams. Other sports are provided through the park and rec system. Middle school students are bused to Fairview for football, track, baseball, softball and marching band.
All visitors must buzz in and be identified before coming into the building. There is a camera outside. Once admitted, visitors must sign in at the front office and receive a visitor pass before entering the school. The school is contained in a single building, so students do not have to be outdoors except during recess or PE time. There is a full time resource officer (deputy) on duty. There are cameras in the halls, lunchroom, and gym. The lunchroom food is not the tastiest, but there are healthy options. There is a full time RN on duty for all emergencies or if students are sick. I am sure that some bullying, name-calling, etc. goes on here, as in most scools. I believe that the teachers try to protect their students and they do discuss behavior issues such as these. Overall, I feel very confident of my child's safety while she is at Parkside.
