Parkhurst Administration and staff is incredibly dedicated and put their whole hearts into investing into the students and families at our school. Going above and beyond is the norm, and students are truly loved. They are committed to helping students grow as a whole person - academically, emotionally, and spiritually. The integration of a wide variety of learning styles and ability levels makes Parkhurst Academy unique and exceptional. As a parent I am so grateful that mental health and faith based resources are readily available. My children are also excelling academically, and I would not want them anywhere else. Extra curricular programs and athletics are growing, and I am looking forward to the expansion yet to come.
Parkhurst Academy is a small private school located inside a church. The building is brand new, which is great. But, the academics, like many other things about the school, are extremely underwhelming. A boasted "AL (Adaptive Learning) program" does not care about students' excellence, only that it is a selling point for parents with children who possess learning disabilities. Rather than catering to a student's needs, learning is halted altogether. Teachers are told not to redirect students to learning, and instead become submissive supervisors. Very little learning is done and students lose learning abilities after prolonged exposure to these conditions. Do NOT send your student here for the AL program. The Honors and Traditional programs are above decent, but the AL program will only ruin a child's abilities to learn and set them up for failure in the academic and practical world.
I love working here. Parkhurst is growing into a great place to be! Teachers are given the flexibility to actually teach, parents are invested, and our basis is a Biblical worldview.
