Very average. The administration was never very good, the counseling department was awful to say the least. I never felt like I was listened to. I would change a lot about paloma. There are so many bad teachers and so little student resources for things like mental health. Sports were too large of a focus when it came to money. Funds that were raised for the whole school ended up going mainly towards football instead of anywhere else. I would probably never recommend Paloma to anyone.
Honestly I found my time at Paloma to be some of the best in my entire school career. The teachers were majorly supportive and approachable, the material was laser-focused upon an efficient yet encapsulating and investing education that would entertain and enlighten. There were lots of opportunities for participation in not only the school environment such as ASB, NJROTC, etc. but also through services that contribute to the community as a whole. It is also extremely accepting of racial diversity, LGBT+, etc. there has been no discrimination that I am aware of, and overall the social atmosphere is generally positive and motivating in just the right way.
In the three years I've attended Paloma Valley, there have not been any problems that stood out from the norm of any school. The administration has always shown how great of a role model they could be through their attempts to encourage students through any and all struggles. The teachers and staff are open-minded when it comes to listening to a student and it gives off a sense of community which helps foster the idea that no one is alone (something vital to include in a high school). Distance learning especially has taken a toll on many students too which makes the constant motivational speeches and the mental health check-ins that much more important as well. I wouldn't change anything about the school itself though because either way every year the standards will change and the people there will come and go which means the only people who can make it better are the young staff who plan to stay.
