I moved to Pacheco in the middle of my sophomore year and coming from a highly rated school in San Jose. I experienced first hand the drastic change in learning experience that socioeconomic status of the area has on the public school system. Besides the obvious school population and class size decrease due to small town of Los Banos, there was a group of students that took all the same AP courses making a clear distinction between students with plans for college after high school and those with alternate plans for their future whether it be a family business, military, or a minimum wage job. My overall student life experience was great as I was involved heavily in sports and ASB. Since it was only built in 2010, it still needs time to establish strong school spirit and traditions in comparison to the rival and only other high school LBHS.

What I liked about Pacheco High School was the environment on campus. Most students are very kind and helpful. The administration on campus is very helpful and opened to talk to any student. There are many clubs on campus for every student to get involved in the largest being FFA. The teachers on campus are informative and helpful when it come to the work and classroom. Pacheco has many opportunities to help you get ready for college with many AP, Honors and college classes right on campus. Pacheco has many sports teams to insure that every student may participate in. The school spirit is incredible and the sports events are crazy showing that our school is one. One thing I would like to see on campus is for more clean bathrooms open during breaks and lunches. With almost 1,800 students attending and only one bathroom open there is a very long line.
I would say my school does a great job with the students, It’s very open and welcoming. We have college workshops, and college advisers on campus. We have a lot of clubs, and the school menu has a variety of foods culture wise such as tamales, to orange chicken w/ rice. Once a year our school has an occasion called “Multicultural Night” It’s an after school get together of students and the community to see what clubs, classes, cultures, and teachers we have on campus. You try free food, food trucks join, and the students put up different dances of culture and/or sing for the people there. It’s a great way learn about our school. We sell school gear and bring the energy on game days. We have an anonymous tip hotline, suicide prevention hotline, and a crisis hotline attached to every students ID card open to anyone.
