    From Our Savior Lutheran School

    Established in 1946, Our Savior, has always taken pride in Serving Families for Jesus Christ; that is, in fact, the mission statement for Our Savior Lutheran Church and School. We also take pride in our provision of a classical Lutheran education for the Inwood Forest, Oak Forest, and Garden Oaks communities. Other neighborhoods highly represented at our school are Timbergrove, The Heights, Shepherd Park Plaza, and Jersey Village.
    Our Savior does not exist to simply provide our students with the skills they need for the next level, or the ability to score high on standardized tests, We provide an education that is centered in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we seek to cultivate wisdom and virtue by nourishing the soul on that which is true, good, and beautiful. God has blessed us with a beautiful 60-acre campus that allows us to see the beauty of His creation on a daily basis.     Classical Education at OSL

    Our Savior's classical approach to education is a paideia. This is a Greek word (παιδεία) describing "the process of educating man into his true form, the real and genuine human nature." With this goal in mind, we offer exemplary academic instruction as well as encouragement for each child to develop and sustain a strong faith, biblical knowledge, and a personal relationship with the Lord.

      This school has been so wonderful for our family. The class sizes are kept small, which I think is so important. I love that students have the ability to explore and enjoy the amazing campus that is miraculously in the middle of Houston. Most of all, it thrills me that not only are they being taught the curriculum necessary for their minds, but they also get to hear and learn the word of God. I can't say enough great things about OSL!

      We started our 3 children in Pre-K and decided to stay. Now with 2nd and 3rd graders, we are so happy we continued. The school is small enough where you know most of the kids and parents. The parents all support each other, the school and are focused with the staff on a solid education. It is affiliated with a Lutheran church and it is a classical education underpinned by Christian values but we never felt pressured to join the church or like “outsiders” because we weren’t church members. We are very happy with the mix of Spartan math, Abeka language arts, and exposure to faith.

      The church appears to underwrite the school in a significant way to allow for greater accessibility. The school is a hidden gem. You should tour and see for yourself. Our children are thriving at OSL.
      We love OSL! The school feels like a family and community. Our sons have thrived and learned so much. The grounds are beautiful! Full of moss hanging on trees, lakes and forest. It’s a hidden gem!!
