I have gained a great education at the Elms! The teachers are wonderful but the administration are making horrible decisions. They have been canceling events that students have been looking forward to for years! Administration is out of touch with the students and making wild decisions to “make the school better”. I bet that they couldn’t name at least five random students names. Not knowing the students at all but knowing all the names of their donors! Making decisions one day but the next week totally changing there mind. They have taken away our free periods, a privilege we all work very hard for. By studying so hard and doing well on our exams! We work for our free periods! I would’ve left with out a second thought years ago ! They lost a future donner to the school! We say we are a community but our community hasn’t been more coherent than it is now because we are all going together trying to fight this!

I truly believe that the Elms is an amazing school with great ideals and caring teachers. However, from a former student's perspective, I did not feel cared for by the administration. They were extremely harsh with their punishments against us. The attitude about our education was so serious, and many fun traditions fell away because the administration could not find the time to fit them in our schedule. I worked extremely hard in high school, and I feel prepared as a college student, but at the cost of a normal high school experience. With a couple of exceptions, there was not much done for the students. Many teachers were very caring and want success for their students, but with the high turnover rate among teachers, it was challenging to form relationships with teachers; I believe there were over 15 teachers who left during my four years. I am not saying that the Elms is a bad school because I enjoyed my time there, but I think it could be better under the right leadership.
It's an okay school. The academics aren't the best and in the Elementary and Middle School, there are no classes for gifted students. The teachers are excellent and very nice, but the students need to learn to respect for the teachers. The students are not very focused in class and are rude and disrespectful. There are too many activities that don't relate to academics and we waste too much time doing useless activities that aren't going to help us in life. The Elms is a pretty average school, not the best, but not the worst. Just average.
