From Our Lady of Peace Catholic School
Our Lady of Peace Catholic School offers a strong academic and faith-filled education for preschool through eighth grade. We are located in the Lake Nokomis neighborhood of South Minneapolis. We are an accredited school with highly experienced staff, small class sizes, and a commitment to the safety and learning of every child.

Early Learning Program at Our Lady of Peace
Our Lady of Peace Catholic School has play-based and faith-filled education for our preschool and prekindergarten students. We have 2 classes of preschool and 2 classes of prekindergarten with a ration of 10 students for each teacher. The preschool and prekindergarten students attend the following specialist classes once each weekly: Spanish, physical education, music, art, and library.

OLP is an amazing small Catholic elementary school, within a wonderful neighborhood. When we started thinking about preschool for our daughter, we looked to OLP because it was close by. We did a little more research, completed a tour, but we didn't put too much else into the decision. Boy, did we luck out! It is a hidden gem of a school, and we quickly realized this after hearing from others at different schools, and later touring many other schools due to a move. The staff are incredible, the facilities are safe, clean and welcoming, and the community can't be beat. I would highly recommend OLP.
This school is a diamond in the rough! Highly qualified teachers, supportive parent community, articulate and bright students, and a determination to provide each child with a meaningful Catholic education. The teacher to student ratio is about 1:12! I have watched my own children grow and flourish into confident students per the number of opportunities they encounter daily to be leaders among their peers.
Finally, I have watched the school improve with new technology (1:1 in middle school), new paint, upgraded security, relocation of the preschool to the main floor of the school building for better inclusion of all families, and this summer they are building an outdoor learning space!

We came to OLP when our oldest was entering 5th grade. The public school we were at in Minneapolis us loved by many, but we just didn’t have the same experiences. We saw our children being lost in the crowd, not getting the one on one attention they needed sometimes and were lacking a community that truly knew them. From day one our children at OLP have been seen, understood, and challenged. We are not practicing Catholics, but we see the value in this school and the education they are receiving. We have one child with ADD and one on the spectrum and both of our children’s needs are being met and respected. Our younger children also attend their Pre- K programs and we can’t say enough Good things about that Program as well! We are so happy we’ve found a school community for our children to be in from pre-k to 8th grade!
