The education I have received at Mercy is above and beyond what i would have expected. The teachers genuinely care about the student beyond just classwork, test scores and the grades they get. They get to know and understand you as a person and so their best to accommodate to an individual's learning style. My favorite classes here are AP Studio Art, AP Literature and AP Biology, mainly because they taught me more than just the content, they taught me about life. I carry lessons from those classes with me now and will through college and beyond. What I'd like to see change is how administration deals with problems within the school. I went through a 6 month long ordeal because my coach displayed inappropriate behavior towards me and other athletes, and it took months of prodding, me leaving the track team, phone calls and an impulsive/unsanctioned letter from my coach in order to solve the problem.

I was nervous to come to Mercy at first especially because I had many guy friends at my old school and I didn't think I would be able to connect as well in an all-girls setting. To my surprise, every teacher is very welcoming and understanding here and so are the girls. I made a lot of friends the first couple weeks of school here. Through some social events with Mercy and McQuaid Jesuit, I got to meet many guys and I now have a large group of guy friends that I hang out with often. Everyone thinks that Mercy girls don't socialize with any guys and it must be so hard but the all-girls community makes learning so much more comfortable. Everyone here is welcomed to share their ideas and we are taught to be strong leaders. One of the only things I would change about Mercy is the cafeteria. Unfortunately, the cafeteria is an obvious representation of the social hierarchy here. Everyone knows where the popular girls sit or the jocks or the dorks, its a scene right out of Mean Girls.
My daughter is very studious so this is a well suited environment for her. Unlike other commentators, I have not found that we are treated differently coming from an average income earning family who is unable to donate. My daughter has made many friends with different interests and backgrounds. She has been able to quickly accelerate in Math and Science putting her on the fast path to college.
