My experience at OCSA was everything but what I expected a high school to be like! There was so much diversity in peoples personality and characters. It was very refreshing, and you never felt like an outsider, because everyone was as quirky as you. The activities at the school were always fantastic and the staff were truly involved and so helpful and encouraging to the students. In my opinion, there wasn't really anything I would want to change about the school, other than maybe suggest they have more school activities!
As a senior almost graduating from the Osceola County School for the Arts, I will definitely say that the public school has a lot of great qualities that make it a great choice for students that have a passion for different aspects of the arts. Through the 7 majors (Band, Orchestra, Vocal, Visual Arts, Dance, Technical Theater, Creative Writing, and Drama) and the small school population, it is very easy to have this sense of community, not only in your own major but also with other majors as well. In regards to academics, they are very strong and continue that way when transitioning into high school. Overall, the school is a great choice and I highly recommend it for anybody considering going through the audition process.
My experience at OCSA, personally, has been awesome. When I fist arrived there I automatically saw and participated in so many opportunities that were provided to me. There's such a diverse group of smart and talented students, who all have something to share with the world. I have learned from these different artists, how to collaborate and to fully illustrate my own artwork in dance, to convey the story or message I would like to portray. Also, I really development my leadership roles by taking 4 leadership position and have partaken in 6 clubs. What I think could do better at my school is the communication between the administration and the students. There seems to be a disconnect there. Although the students are supportive of each other, they should feel the same with administration.
