All the teachers are super caring. There are amazing students and a great amount of diversity. Our football team is the best in the state. We have many different clubs and electives.
I enjoyed my art and science teachers. They were very nice and helpful. When ever I had an issue they helped me in class. Covid 19 has had me at home online. New learning tools and how to apply them.
The school is strong with the spirit of togetherness and teamwork. The teachers are very friendly and helpful. The students are also very nice and are always willing to help each other. Students love sports and watching games to encourage their peers. I just wish they can make the school look better visually. I wish they had classes to prepare kids for college and applications.
I'm from a small town in NY and it introduced diversity and an education system that i didnt experience before. Plenty of clubs and programs to get engaged. A variety of classes to take, not just core classes but really fun electives that you can pick based on your interests! Or if you want to develop certain skills you could take keyboarding, bus mgmt , etc. you'll find something you like. I personally took life planning freshman year that taught me ab relationships and self love and just life im general .Online is obviously different but hopefully things return to normal soon. The teachers are trying their best. As for the students, you'll find your group of people. The social factor is different online but there are break out rooms on zoom and Google meet if you're willing to interact. Overall i love it.I've gained great friendships, and discovered my strengths. + Minorities will not feel left out ! mr Joseph is so nice and cool btw. I can tell he actually cares about us !
I've enjoyed my past four years of going to this school. I've made amazing friends in my honors classes, I've loved serving as a barista for the coffee shop, and I've loved almost every single one of my teachers right from the start. I'm hoping that my high school teachers will continue to be friends with me as I go on into college.
I love this school. Almost all the teachers are helpful and want you to succeed in life. This is a very football centered school so sports are very big.
I had an average experience at Oscar Smith Highschool. I was satisfied with most of my teachers. The school spirit wasn’t very engaging most of the time, but it was always there to participate in. The sports and clubs were nice, but I personally would’ve liked the clubs to be more adventurous. I had a mixed experience with the students in Oscar Smith High. One were nice but some very rude to other students or teachers, and it can greatly affect the atmosphere.
Oscar F. Smith has teachers that care and it's a very inclusive school. Their sports teams are amazing, too!
I loved the environment there , the teachers students and faculty are amazing ! The one thing I would change is the food.
The thing I appreciated most about Oscar Smith High were the teachers. They were very nice teachers who would do anything to help their students pass and graduate. There are a couple of things that I would love for the school administration to change and that is making the hallways a bit wider so everyone isn't bunching up on each other and making the cafeteria a better place to eat at.
Oscar Smith has some amazing opportunities like the International Bachelorette program and AVID. The issues I have lie mostly within the faculty and staff. The teachers are less than perfect and many don't care about the students as much as the SOL tests.
My overall experience is was pretty normal. I made a some friends and was on good terms with all my teachers. The lunch food was dreadful.
Once you enter Oscar Smith High School, you can easily get lost or confused since our school is quite big, but don't worry about it because there are always Student Council Association members around the school willing to help lead you to the right way on the first two days of school. Our school is quite known for the AVID and IB programs; however, the most unique trait about our school, in my perspective, are the different varieties of clubs and activities that might seek your interest like UNICEF club or Spanish club or even Operation Smile. Furthermore, our school has tradition in it, one of the tradition is that when our school's sport team wins a game, all the team members get to ring the giant bell. Another tradition is whichever group of grade levels show the most school spirit deserves the oh mighty spirit stick.
I would like to see more involvement from the teachers with their students. I would also like to have more security, so students do not have the opportunity to skip class and school so much. I want more opportunities for honors students, like the students in IB and AVID have. Honors students deserve more opportunities, such as college visits and college prep. My experience overall in this school is excellent.
My school is very fun and exciting. The students are involved in school, and the teachers are just as amazing.
I am a Senior at Oscar Smith High School. Oscar Smith is a very diverse school, full of teachers and administrators who want success for the students. There’s nothing I would change about my school, they always strive for us to do our best and never give up.
As I leave this school with my advanced diploma, I will always remember the reason why I’m here. It's because of my friends, family, teachers, and most importantly AVID, the one thing that made me go beyond my limit, I will never forget my high school experience.
