I am greatly in love with this school's program! Never have I been more excited to go to school and participate in the projects and discussions. Every day is something new and challenging, and everyday I get an opportunity to be apart of a mini-community within itself with collaborating with my classmates on tasks. I feel that this program offers a lot more than what a traditional setting does- since I have been enrolled into this program (for about ten days, give or take), I have noticed a tremendous change in the way I advocate for myself and how inquisitive I am. I noticed my drive and determination to plan for post-secondary goals, and to complete high school with an Oregon diploma faster than ever. It is self-paced, so the student gets to decide when he or she wants to graduate, based on the amount of credits needed and drive to work hard. I have been more involved with city projects through the right technological tools and skills offered by O.O.I. The options continue to expand for me! If I could, I would definitely choose this school to start out my high school career.

Although I haven't been in this program long, I have noticed the quality of technology, guidance counselors, college prep resources, tutoring, parent involvement, and busing is pretty well!! There is always technological resources readily available for students to use, in the case of them not having access elsewhere. The staff of Oregon Outreach Inc. or O.O.I for short, serves well as academic and personal guidance counselors, and with that aid students in the college prep process. We, students, for example are actually going to experience the college prep process by taking tours of local colleges and Universities, as well as interview real professionals of each of our career interests for potential job shadows and/or internship opportunities this following week. We will also be going through application requirements and the structure of a related process; grants, scholarships and federal student aid. O.O.I provides great tutoring services in addition, with an hour each day for students to complete and get teacher-aided help and academic feedback, with independent studies, following the remainder of the time with teacher instructed classwork or projects. With this program, parents involvement is essential when applying for this program as well as during completion or continuation of this program. To put this into perspective, we, students, were required to participate in a student-lead parent conference, where the student discusses his or her academic progress, attendance, goals, achievements, post-secondary planning, and the like throughout his or her time spent in O.O.I. And concluding, transportation means are provided for students who need them upon request.
With a small class size and a few staff members bullying is not an existing issue at O.O.I. Dress code, and attendance are things that do not have to be reviewed often, because it often not an issue for this program either. I, along with my fellow classmates are mature enough that these issues do not need to be addressed, as we are independent young adults, taking control of our academic and personal progress upon entering the class everyday. Attendance also falls into this category as it is our responsibility. The teachers are very much involved with the student's active learning, by being of assistance whenever needed to provide additional support or to clarify anything, as well as being an engaged instructor in the sense of being well prepared with lesson plans and displaying professional yet approachable behavior.
