I had a wonderful experience at Orcutt Academy! The teachers cared about the students and were excellent in terms of technique and experience, and the staff was friendly in general. Great sports program and peer group.

Orcutt Academy was probably the best choice I could've made! Not only did I receive the best education with passionate and encouraging teachers, I also was able to form a close-knit circle of friends. Being that it is a charter school, which only accepts about 500 students annually (I heard the number has increased to about 600 since last year), I feel it was easier to transition into (I came my sophomore year from a larger public school) and easier to develop connections with both your peers and teachers. What we lacked in variety of sports (it was during my senior year that we finally created a football team) we compensated for in academics, rivaling among one of the top in our area. Overall, it was something I look back to fondly!
I thought the eduction aspect of the school was extremely beneficial. It helped prepare me for college-level courses and the teachers were phenomenal and showed great interest in helping students succeed. One thing I would suggest for improvement would be the facilities. Since the campus was formerly an elementary school, it needs to be upgraded to be better suited for a high school. Some things that need to be added are a gym, a larger multi-use room, and football/soccer field that is safe and hole-free to prevent injuries. A removal of the playground that was left on the campus is needed as well.
