Freshman year I was very nervous to attend Orcutt Academy, the teachers and other students made sure I was comfortable and easily helped me feel involved. Throughout my high school experience, I have has small class sizes which I appreciate because the teacher can focus on each individual student and help them even ever they are needed. The students of the school are friendly and charismatic and the school spirit does not go unnoticed. The other staff as in the librarian and office ladies are also very helpful and approachable so you don't feel pressure to go to them for any questions or concerns. The campus is small but is not overcrowded and has an appropriate amount of time for passing periods, breaks, and lunches. Lastly, the schedule is confusing at first but easy to remember after a few weeks, I enjoy that we end early in the afternoon giving us enough time through the rest of the evening and night to either go to work, sports or finish homework.

I had a wonderful experience at Orcutt Academy! The teachers cared about the students and were excellent in terms of technique and experience, and the staff was friendly in general. Great sports program and peer group.
Orcutt Academy was probably the best choice I could've made! Not only did I receive the best education with passionate and encouraging teachers, I also was able to form a close-knit circle of friends. Being that it is a charter school, which only accepts about 500 students annually (I heard the number has increased to about 600 since last year), I feel it was easier to transition into (I came my sophomore year from a larger public school) and easier to develop connections with both your peers and teachers. What we lacked in variety of sports (it was during my senior year that we finally created a football team) we compensated for in academics, rivaling among one of the top in our area. Overall, it was something I look back to fondly!
